Washington Post's tiny sister Everett Herald announces cutbacks
by LeCerveau, 08:44 AM, 3 Comments
Neal Pattison, the Herald's Executive Editor, trying to put a happy face on economic uncertainty for the Herald and the rumors afoot that layoffs for reporters and staffers are just around the corner, announced on the Monday's front page that the Herald was dicing up its business section by dropping stock market reporting and consolidating all of the food, family, entertainment and trends reporting into a new reduced size section called "Good Life". What it boils down to is that... [read more]

Rick Larsen's sharp LEFT turn!
by LeCerveau, 07:47 AM, 2 Comments
In an announcement that has shocked many of his moderate "HillBilly" Democratic supporters, Rick Larsen announced today that he is supporting Obama for President with his SUPER DELEGATE VOTE! Rick has suddenly also decided that 'global warming' is something that requires the US to shut down its economy in the name of 'climate change' after at one time refusing to even vote for banning CO2 emissions. It appears that Congressman Larsen is and always has been a closet far left... [read more]

Snohomish County Political News!
by LeCerveau, 09:11 AM, 0 Comments
You think you are suffering in King County? You should have our arrogant young monster as County Executive: Aaron Reardon! Boss Reardon, Snohomish County's own copy of Boss Sims, has gone over the line and abandoned his phony image as the personification of a typical 'Henry Jackson moderate Democrat' in order to embrace his own 'cult of personality'. Word has it that Boss Reardon has been in a very testy mood lately after he received word that Congressman Rick Larsen... [read more]

THE GREEN WORLD IS ENDING, I HOPE!
by LeCerveau, 08:04 PM, 1 Comments
In another confirmation that the Everett Herald (a Washington Post newspaper) has gone off the deep end and dropped all pretext to any relevancy to life in Snohomish County comes this Sunday Editorial: Published: Sunday, April 6, 2008 Gentle nudge toward making 'green' choice In theory, a "green" ethic isn't a hard sell in these parts. A sense of environmental stewardship is stamped on the consciousness of people who have lived in the Northwest most of their lives, and it's... [read more]

Snohomish County's Transportation Scandal
by LeCerveau, 09:05 AM, 1 Comments
39th District Representative Dan Kristiansen's proposed legislation to repair Highway 2 was initially promised a hearing on three bills in this year's short legislative session. It was declared 'dead on arrival' by controlling Democrats at the end of this session. During last year's Legislative session, Kirstiansen introduced a funding bill for safety improvements to Highway 2. The measure was Co-sponsored by John Lovick, who has since been elected Snohomish County Sheriff. The bipartisan bill never got a hearing because it... [read more]

Everett Herald (Washington Post's local paper)
by LeCerveau, 09:17 AM, 0 Comments
I call everyone's attention to page B-1 in today's Sunday Herald. In some of the worst reporting I have ever seen in any newspaper, Katya Yefimova headlines: "Bill sets goal of 2020 for cutting greenhouse gases". While the piece does include a valid comment by Val Stevens, it completely fails to mention what the bill is really all about: a major tax bill on the people of the State of Washington complete with sweeping regulatory big brother control of any... Scott Olson & Fred Walser...Republicans and just don't know it?
by ChadMinnick, 09:15 AM, 1 Comments
Scott Olson, the gregarious (and genuinely nice guy) candidate for State Representative against incumbent Dan Kristiansen has criticized his opponent for not doing enough for US2 safety. Fred Walser, the try-hard chair of the US2 Safety Coalition is a candidate against Senator Val Stevens and has made US2 improvements his primary campaign issue. But here is the irony...both are running as Democrats. Why is this ironic? Because the GOP and Rep. Kristiansen in particular have beat the drums of US2... [read more]

PDC Returns Lovick Complaint
by pudge, 03:56 PM, 7 Comments
After Rep. John Lovick falsely included Rep. Kirk Pearson in his list of endorsements for County Sheriff, I contacted Lovick's campaign directly. I told Lovick that unless the endorsement was removed from his web site immediately, and -- because the false endorsement had been on Lovick's campaign web site for weeks -- a retraction posted on the web site. If both were not done, I would file a PDC complaint. The endorsement was removed the very next day, and I... [read more]

Rep. Pearson Did Not Endorse John Lovick
by pudge, 03:28 PM, 5 Comments
John Lovick, Democratic legislator from the 44th District and candidate for Snohomish County Sheriff, has erroneously claimed endorsements he does not have and has failed to correct his error after being notified weeks ago. A page on Lovick's official campaign web site listing various endorsements he claims he's been given for his race. One of those names is Rep. Kirk Pearson, Republican legislator from the 39th District, where I am the district chair for the Republican Party. Late this week... [read more]

When is a Republican not a Republican?
by Stewart_Street, 12:58 AM, 0 Comments
Could it be when he sells his soul to the Democrats? On Thursday the 9th the Herald published this letter from Snohomish County developer and political player Hank Robinett. I was curious to know why Mr. Robinett decided to slander Representative Sullivan so, when most people know that Brian Sullivan is one of the most knowledgeable people around on the issue of Paine Field. So, following Rush Limbaugh's advice to "follow the money trail" I went to the Public Disclosure... [read more]

And the GOP Executive Candidate Is ...
by pudge, 07:45 PM, 1 Comments
I'm sitting in the convention now, and the mystery Republican candidate for Snohomish County Executive was just announced moments ago. It's Jack Turk. UPDATE 1: His campaign web site, I believe, is www.turk2007.com, though there's nothing there yet. He is not asking for any campaign donations, but instead is asking for donations -- his goal is $100,000 -- to give to charity. He was nominated by the convention unanimously, by voice vote. UPDATE 2: The Herald has posted its story... [read more]

Mail Registration Horror Show
by AndrewSaint, 11:18 AM, 1 Comments
In which my wife and I are disenfranchised by the US Postal Service. I recently moved from King County to Snohomish County, and had to re-register to vote. So, I went out to the Snohomish County Auditor's web site, and saw this in the FAQs. Where can I register? You may obtain mail-in registration forms at all Public Schools, Libraries, City/Town Clerks' Offices, County Auditor's Office, Post Offices, and many other public places. You may register when you renew your... [read more]

Vote In Person In Snohomish County
by pudge, 04:50 PM, 4 Comments
The Snohomish County Council voted early this year to move to all-mail voting, and many of us are quite angry about the change, for many reasons. But there's still one voting machine in the county, and any registered voter can use it, unless they've voted already. So, we'll be having a protest of sorts: everyone who wants to should show up on Primary Election Day (preferably, at noon or 7 p.m.; be prepared to wait in line!) at the County... [read more]

UnopposedDemocrats?
by wstillwell, 09:09 AM, 4 Comments
There was an interesting article in the Everett Herald newspaper this morning about unopposed Democrats in the September Primary election. Being a resident of Everett I was quickly drawn to the fact that there is nobody on the Republican primary for Washington State Senate or House seat #2 in the 38th District. I truly wonder why this is. Are these incumbent Democrats considered unbeatable by the Republican party? I have decided to explore the possibility of paying the filing fee... [read more]
