Poor Barack. No Katrina For Him.
One of my sons writes (under a pseudonym) for a couple blogs.
This is his latest.
When I asked him if I could send it on by email and post it here, he asked only that I
"Send a copy to Jay Leno with the following joke I wrote for him:
"So, Obama was really banking on his response to Hurricane Irene to boost his poll numbers. Unfortunately, thanks to the National Weather Service, he's instead faced with another downgrade."

1. From now on, that's how I'm going to refer to Irene. "Obama's 2nd Downgrade."
Seems like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Pretty weak argument.
As noted, the coverage of this hurricane was not unusual, but the fact that it was bearing down on the eastern US was a pretty big deal. If this wasn't treated seriously and it was a bigger storm, the consequences would have been significant.
So where exactly does it prove that Obama used this to increase approval ratings? Should he have gone to clear brush instead?
4. Likewise, has there been any explicit connection between poll numbers and Irene?
6. Hurricane Politics
I have to laugh at President Incompetent's rush to prove his ... competency. After all, it IS the election season and he's not faring too well. It's really too bad he wasn't having to defend his seat when he
- failed to show up for almost NINE DAYS during the oil spill 'crisis';
- ignored the heartland flooding, for which he was roundly criticized;
- ignored the heartland ice storms of 2009
- and not ONLY ignored the Texas wildfires, but refused to provide federal disaster aid to its victims.
... of course, true to form ...
Hurricane Irene Sunday: Presidential priorities as Obama golfs while soldiers are laid to rest!
7. Some Gave All, Obama Shot Par
On his first full day of vacation, August 19th, as Obama golfed one of Martha Vineyard's private courses, at least five of our most elite - some of the 30 victims of the deadly Taliban attack on their Chinook helicopter August 6th -- were laid to rest. Even Obama's ambitious 77 rounds of golf in as little as 31 months failed to numb to the image.
The timing of events at the most inopportune moments -- natural disasters, economic turmoil, and chaos at home and overseas -- has stung other Presidents. It is, to a large degree, humanly impossible to avoid every such image. But frankly, no one in history has seemed so at ease, so lacking in humility -- so, can't you see I'm on vacation -- even in the midst of great fear, insecurity, tragedy, or unforeseen terrorism, than Barack Obama. ...
...No one believes Obama could have logistically attended the funerals of the thirty fallen, particularly with his busy fundraising schedule. And in all fairness, Obama did change his schedule to meet the flag-draped coffins returning to the U.S. on August 9th -- at which time he posed for a photo, distributed to news outlets and posted on the White House website as the Photo of The Day -- regardless of the request from at least nineteen of the bereaved families not to do so. But nine days later he was throwing humility to the wind and hitting the links, which seems to be par for the course on Obama's lavish romp through public service. Still, watching our most revered soldiers laid to rest as their Commander-in-Chief putts, seems to prove once and for all the job isn't just outside his comfort zone, it's above Obama's pay grade.
8. Seems like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
I consider that the most supreme compliment you can give me in regards to every one of my sons.
Pretty weak argument.
Alas, you simply cannot distinguish between argument and opinion. Your now expected insult (since that's all you ever proffer) is laughable, considering this particular son has both an undergraduate degree in philosophy and a post graduate in law.
13. But some brick walls just cannot help themselves with their insulting, ugly snark and their desperate need for attention
Pot, kettle? I'm just saying that the opinion is weak and unfounded. Feel free to let loose the torrent of crazy instead of actually answering the question.
14. Pretty weak argument.
And yet, following your standard modus operandi, you stand back, point fingers and STILL have not refuted nor made an attempt to refute anything.
So where exactly does it prove that Obama used this to increase approval ratings?/I>
PROVE? Puhlease. He's Obama. He's a politician. He's running for re-election. He's down in the polls more with every single day that passes.
Feel free to let loose the torrent of crazy instead of actually answering the question.
The torrent was to bait you. Hook, line, sinker, sucker.
