What recession? Public employees here apparently getting boost taxpayer-funded benefits.
Today I found the following information on the City of Shoreline web page regarding the Public Employee Benefit System contributions (PERS). In all cases the Employer (read taxpayer) contribution raises 60 percent!! (from 5.31% to 8.48%).
PERS: (Mandatory State retirement)
Current --> Proposed Rate Change 7/1/2011
Plan I
Employee 6.00% --> 6.00%
Employer 5.31% --> 8.48%
Plan II
Employee 3.90% --> 4.43%
Employer 5.31% --> 8.48%
Plan III
Employee Choice of 5-15%
Employer 5.31% --> 8.48%
Did this really go through as proposed? Is this a statewide increase - or just Shoreline largesse?
