So............I just finished watching the latest episode of ABC News "What Would You Do?", hosted by John Quinones.
Two segments dealt with possible racism.
In one, a young black man is seen using a hack saw and bolt cutter to extract a very expensive bike secured by lock and chain to a post in Central Park. The folks walking by step into action by confronting whom they assume is a brazen thief. They call the police, they confront the young man aggressively and "do the right thing".
Then the "would be thief" is switched, this time portrayed by a pretty, young blond white girl. Confrontation? Calls to police to stop such a brazen crime? Not so much. If anything, they come to the damsel's distress and "save the day".
In another segment, three teen black girls peruse the goods in an upscale clothing boutique in SOHO, a trendy NYC neighborhood. The racism expressed by the store manager is brutally overt and clearly overheard by the other shoppers. It cannot be interpreted by anyone in the store as anything but insanely racist, prejudiced behavior a lawyer would PRAY to be able to witness. One couple objects. One.
Other patrons simply go about their business. The one aforementioned couple show some concern, but it barely passes muster given the blatant racism the manager beats down on the young girls.
So, Johnny, nice show. Awesome television.
BUT.....................come again?
Hey Johnny..............why don't you do those segments again. Same thing exactly. Same locations. But this time, Johnny, why don't you ask those folks who exhibited indifference, racism and outright ignorance WHAT POLITICAL PARTY THEY FAVOR OR WHO THEY VOTED FOR FOR PRESIDENT!
Let me see.....................
SOHO NYC.
CENTRAL PARK NYC
Chances they are Conservative Republicans...............................ZERO
I know.......................I was born and raised in NYC and know those neighborhoods inside and out. You couldn't find a Conservative within MILES.
But...................... close by, OLBERMANN and MATTHEWS are taping their TV shows as they rant, spittle flying, about the racism exhibited by Tea Partiers and Glenn Beck fans.
