UPDATE: DOJ Accused of Stalling on MOVE Act for Voters in Military
by SouthernRoots, 09:45 AM, 1 Comments
It is being reported that the DOJ is ignoring or moving very slowly in implementing the MOVE law that was intended to make it easier for our troops overseas to cast ballots and have them counted. Further down in the article was this statement: FoxNews.com obtained waiver applications submitted by Washington and Hawaii. Why? Didn't we move up the primary schedule to add time to the process so that our military could participate? Wasn't that the purpose of moving the... [read more]

7/25/10: News that *should* explode in the mainstream media today and tomorrow
by RagnarDanneskold, 11:37 AM, 2 Comments
... we'll see ... especially in light of all the blame alleged and heaped on BP for this very thing. WHITE HOUSE BACKED RELEASE OF LOCKERBIE BOMBER US 'preferred' compassionate release over transfer to Libyan jail... The document, acquired by a well-placed US source, threatens to undermine US President Barack Obama's claim last week that all Americans were "surprised, disappointed and angry" to learn of Megrahi's release. When are you apologists going to admit the everything this dishonest calculating administration... [read more]

Progressive racists exposed!!!
by 6p01053690976c970c, 04:30 AM, 3 Comments
Many black conservatives have used the phrase 'liberal plantation' to imply that the left is not the ally of the black community that it seems to be. They have so far gotten little traction, but eventually that could change. The little-reported case of lefty pundit Spencer Ackerman is one more bit of kitty-litter under the tires. Ackerman is a writer whose email was exposed by the blog the Daily Caller. Ackerman, brainstorming with fellow lefty journalists on how to respond... [read more]

Koster Running out of Steam?
by tpahl, 09:56 PM, 4 Comments
Rather than point to examples of government departments or agencies he has elliminated in his 16 years of service, rather than point out government departments or agencies he has tried to elliminate in his 16 years of service, rather than provide suggestions of government services or agencies he would elliminate if elected, Pudges candidate for congress instead decided to talk about his opponent. BUT rather than talk about how his opponent has horrible policies, rather than talk about how his... [read more]

Food Co-op boycotts Israel
by 6p0120a8da2620970b, 09:36 AM, 1 Comments
It's truly obtuse that, according to the AP, the Olympia Food Co-op has "received hundreds of mostly supportive calls and e-mails...since the board decided last week to boycott products from Israel." "The boycott aims to compel Israel to respect Palestinian rights." Helen Thomas would be proud. (While they were at it, "the co-op has also boycotted products from Norway and China to object to whaling and human rights violations." This is really a full service grocery store, offering foreign policy... [read more]

Is Koster a conservative?
by tpahl, 04:11 PM, 12 Comments
I am looking for evidence that Koster is a true conservative that seeks to limit government. He has been in office for 16 years so if he is as conservative as his supporters claim he is, it should not be hard to find evidence. I want to see examples of when he has cut a government program or department or at least made a serious attempt at cutting one. I was not able to find any evidence that he ever... [read more]

EMS LEVY - THE LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN THE HISTORY OF MILL CREEK

The Mill Creek City Council recently voted to put a six-year EMS levy on the August 17 ballot, which levy will result in an increase in the tax the rate from $.18 to $.45 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. This represents a 150% tax increase. In dollars, the increase will exceed $5,000,000 or an average of $850,000 per year over the six year term of the Levy. This may well be largest tax increase in the history of Mill Creek.... [read more]

Hypocritical local liberal bloggers? Really?!
by 6p0134857dd9f1970c, 08:51 AM, 12 Comments
In the interest of candor and fairness, I'll say that The Stranger is a publication that every local conservative loves to hate but many love to read. The melding of journalism with activism creates a unique form of entertainment. Conservatives hate it, but we love to hate it. As you're probably aware, many of the Stranger's old mainstay political writers left their insular nest above Value Village on Cap Hill to strike out on their own. Josh Feit started PubliCola,... According to spokeswoman Kimberly Mills of the city attorney's office, a gross misdemeanor is punishable by up to 365 days in jail and a $5,000 fine. Well deserved Soon-to-be-Former Rep. Geoffy Serial Abuser Simpson.... [read more]

What does Zhou Sixpack in China have to say about gun laws in the U.S.?
by 6p01053690976c970c, 11:25 PM, 1 Comments
Chinasmack.com is an interesting website that provides English translations of postings by Chinese 'netizens' on a variety of topics. A recent posting was done on 'How guns are sold in American Walmarts by a poster called 'Fauna.' Fauna had visited a WalMart in the U.S. and posted about it, complete with some good photos. Fauna says: Being able to buy a gun while buying groceries at Wal-Mart, convenient. Here are selected comments. Interested readers can view all by clicking on... [read more]
