The New Slavemasters.

An unlikely proponent of school vouchers is covered recently in the Wall Street Journal: Rev. James Meeks, Democratic state senator from Chicago, and friend of Obama. Article is here.. From the article: "Certainly he's [Meeks] not a man to hold his tongue. He speaks frankly about elected officials "owned by unions." About politicians who send their own kids to private schools--while opposing the choice for the less fortunate. In 2006, he gained notoriety for language in a fiery sermon that... [read more]

The Temptation of Obamacare, Single Payer Socialized Medicine
by RagnarDanneskold, 07:18 PM, 2 Comments
I am a conservative. As a conservative I believe in personal responsibility and limited government. BUT events in the last 5 days have led me to see WHY people want the easy way of Obamacare and how tempting it would be to fall for it. My son has been unemployed for over a year. As a healthy young man, he chose not to purchase private health insurance. We have repeatedly discussed/begged the pros and con's and he stuck with his... [read more]
Liberal case study

In an example of political correctness going back several years, Bellingham's mayor and city council did a favor for the union-backed anti-Wal-Mart campaign and restricted big-box stores to 90 thousand sq ft maximum. At the time, this foiled Wal-Mart's plans to add a grocery department to their (only) Bellingham site. But in the process of undercutting non-union Wal-Mart, there was collateral damage to unionized Costco -- across the street from Wal-Mart -- as well as stores like Lowes and Home... [read more]

Good old Geoff Simpson! WA REP SIMPSON DURING TELEVISED DEBATE (START AT 1:13:30): "I don't understand these people, THESE TEABAGGERS... who argue their taxes are too high..." *Hat tip to Orb So far I know of 2 conservatives for the primary to run against this crass alleged wife beater*: Mark Hargrove and Nancy Wyatt. I knew Nancy and husband socially through mutual friends years ago. *One would assume a declawed, one-eyed dead cat could beat him........ [read more]

Reply from Eric Oemig about 'Don't gut I-960'
by chotii, 09:42 PM, 6 Comments
Here is the letter I received from Eric Oemig. Make no mistake, he makes an effort to explain himself and sent this out VERY promptly, considering I only called him a couple of days ago - just try to get a reply out of our State Senators or the Governor? Even a form letter? But I'll let him speak for himself. I hope somebody can explain what he's saying. ********************************** Thanks for taking the time to call me. Let... [read more]

C4L On Caucus Day: Where Were We?
by 6p0120a89ad36d970b, 10:19 PM, 3 Comments
C4L On Caucus Day: Where Were We? I just do not understand what happened today. We've been planning and working for this since the RINOs jerked us around in 2008... We stayed with the Meetups, we came to the Ron Paul event last year, we Tea Partied, we went to the Governor Johnson event, we did our caucus training. We did it all. EXCEPT SHOW UP! The RINOs in my district outnumbered C4L by 9-to-1. I talked to friends in... [read more]
Tea Partier: will angry 'tone' land you in jail?
by 6p01053690976c970c, 09:42 PM, 2 Comments
KOMO news reports that the Washington State Patrol has launched an investigation into persons who wrote 'excessively harsh' letters to state legislators. The letters do not qualify as threats according to the WSP but nonetheless are being investigated due to "tone." Read the brief report from KOMO here. According to the KOMO report "Troopers said several lawmakers and aides reported having received excessively harsh letters from several people on a variety of topics this week. Among the letters was a... [read more]

Get Out of My Kitchen
by Amyzzon, 09:01 PM, 3 Comments
I sent the below text to Congressman Inslee today using the Congressional Web Form site (hate that I cannot send a direct mail to him). I also sent it to Inslee's Republican challenger, James Watkins. You can see James' blog entry response here: http://watkinsforcongress.netboots.net/posts/finish-the-kitchen-or-damn-the-voters-full-speed-ahead -Amy ______________________________________________________ Congressman Inslee, I am writing you regarding the story in yesterday's Seattle Times which described your experience with a recent kitchen remodel and detailed how you compared this remodeling experience to the current turbulence... Paul Akers to run against Patty Murray
by 6p0120a4faf221970b, 10:13 AM, 1 Comments
Last week Dick Morris, speaking on FOX, stated on 2 different programs that Patty Murray could lose her re-election campaign. He said that if Paul Akers decided to run, he believed that Paul would beat Patty Murray. I wasn't familiar with the name but wondered what Morris knew that we didn't. I couldn't find any information until yesterday. Then I found an announcement in the Bellingham news paper that Paul Akers had announced he was running for the United States... [read more]

Toyota Recall - A Double Standard?
by 6p01287673a6f7970c, 10:42 AM, 6 Comments
I have watched with a certain amount of amazement the recent recall of Toyota automobiles due to a "sticky" accelerator problem. The press has crucified Toyota over this matter. Today, due to one consumer's experience, the press is questioning whether the problem could be electronic or due to software, rather than simply the mechanical cause to which Toyota is now admitting. US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood even announced today that people should not drive their affected Toyotas until fixed, sending... [read more]
