Political use of pet license information

Former staff member to Bob Ferguson and Shoreline City Council candidate, Shari Tracey, used King County pet license information to create a mailing that arriving on October 24, 2009 for dog lovers. Her campaign treasurer made a public records request to access all dog owners in the City of Shoreline to reach these folks as her target. On October 26, 2009 Bob Ferguson was a co-sponsor of the legislation to close down King County Animal Control Services, shutting down the animal shelter program and ending animal control services to suburban cities. Shoreline is one of the suburban cities left in the lurch as it has has a current contract with King County Animal Control and is left scrambling to secure long-term animal control services. You can't quit paying for your $30 pet licenses because King County Animal Control is abolished, you won't get any services but that doesn't mean that Bob Ferguson and his minions can't exploit your information for political gain.

1. You mean they're still going to charge us all $30 even if they're not doing this anymore?
