Just a Little Power Grab

Dow Constantine's latest attack ad crosses a line with journalists. It is (at last) becoming clear, even to the professional journalists in our region, that there is no bridge Constantine won't burn in his quest for power. In a post on the Seattle Times' editorial page staff blog, Ed Cetera, Kate Riley sounds an ominous warning regarding Constantine's tortured use of out of context material from the state public affairs network TVW. In doing this, Constantine does something that no other politician (save the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's similar violation on behalf of Darcy Burner). It is made quite clear: this is the lowest of the low for politicians.

But if you thought Constantine couldn't sink lower, there's more. On the same blog, Bruce Ramsey calls out Constantine for LIBEL against the Washington Policy Center in yet another ad by his campaign. Ramsey says: "It's election time, and Constantine is running the ads his political advisers figure will help him win. And if the Washington Policy Center is ideologically libeled, well, they don't care much about that."

The question is, do you?

Why don't you take the time today to send this post to your friends? After Tuesday it will be too late.

2. Absolute crap. The use of the TVW footage is covered under "fair use", and there are so many articles and reports from WPC that are critical of the effects of global warming that they're pretty much deniers in action if not in word.

But hey... I guess rules are only important for conservatives when they can use them for an advantage.

3. Kind of the way Dow railed about openness regarding the Hutchison-KIRO records - but has gone down the rathole regarding public records about his sex scandal? You can't stand on principle, Dow has cut off the legs on any principle - along with his own nose for spite!
