To date he has held 2 "Telephone" Town Hall Meetings by invitation. He did not list either of his conference calls on his site until after the fact. On both, he posted the audio on YouTube however he turned off the comments option.
Inslee's 2nd "telephone" THM was announced 2 days prior by Kirby WIlbur, KVI. Kirby gave announced both the telephone and pin number to join to call. I'm sure that Inslee was shocked by the turn out with 9,000 callers! He was only able to answer 8-9 questions and there was no ability to follow up on his comments.
One person asked about Tort reform and why it wasn't included in the bill. He answered the question the same way on both conference calls. He used an article from the New Yorker and a town in Texas as an example as to why Tort reform doesn't work. While listening to his comments I looked up the article on the internet and found that the article had nothing to do with Tort reform. I was so angry and frustrated that the next day, I started my own blog and posted links to the article and 2 other links that show how successful Tort Reform has been in the State of Texas.
If you are able to attend either scheduled town hall meeting, here is the link to my blog entry with more information, including links to his reference article, links showing the facts of the success of tort reform in Texas and a link to his audio from the prior Telephone Town Hall Conference. "Inslee on Tort Reform"
With Kirby getting the information out about his last conference call, Inslee went from a had full of callers to 9,000 (information from Inslee at the end of call) ... hopefully we can have the same results or better by getting the information out to the public.

I then called his office and asked if he had any scheduled THM during the month of August. I was told no, however he did have a TTHM scheduled for the 5th. I asked where that information had been posted since I just left his site and there was no information there. I was told by his Shoreline office, that invitations had been sent out to those that had shown an interest.
I pointed out that I had emailed, called his office and was on his mailing list and had not received any information. She then asked for my info including my email address so I could be sent an "Invitation".
So, that is my factual experience and I have nothing to correct.
Posted by: Sandy on August 17, 2009 11:10 AMThe town he referred to in Texas is a border town called McAllen, and when you read the article it talks about that town having 60% higher alcohol consumtion and 38% higher obesity rate than national average.
As for the last Telephone THM on Aug 5th, I can tell you for a fact that Kirby Wilbur didn't know until the day before ... because I'm the one that gave him the info off air, and he immediately announced the TTHM with the phone and pin number.
It will be interesting to see if we get a emailing from his office before the scheduled meetings on the 29th and 30th.
I also plan to go the the Edmonds meeting. Should be interesting.
