Here's How Obama Plans To Destroy Private Health Insurance

hat tip to Michelle Malkin's blog for leading me to this bombshell info--

Well, well, well. Investor's Business Daily has discovered how Barack Obama and the beltway democrats plan to destroy private health insurance. It's on page 16 of the bill. Here's what IBD reports:

"When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee.

It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of "Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage", the "Limitation On New Enrollment" section of the bill clearly states: 'Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enrolll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day' of the year the legislation becomes law.

So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised--with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers. "

So, your right to change or buy new private health insurance will be obliterated. The right of private health insurance companies to write new policies? Gone. It's not a stretch to say that when Obama told the nation "you can keep your coverage if you like it" that he essentially had crossed fingers behind him. He knew that it was a half-truth; that real consumer choice was about to be destroyed. All I can ask is: How dare they? How dare they deceive americans like this, and destroy our freedom to buy any private insurance we want?

The high taxes proposed to pay for this were bad enough. But this is reason for all liberty-loving americans of any political party to get angry and go to the 9:00 a.m. Tea Party events tomorrow. (see Ron Hebron's post on main blog page) And if you're unable to attend, call your senators and congresspersons and tell them you won't be treated this very un-american way.

Enough is enough.

1. onoz!
actually, your, mine and most everyone elses current situation does not guarantee that we can keep our present coverage. What's new? And you should learn to read instead of regurgitating the intentionally misleading bloviations of clowns like michelle malkin.

that paragraph you quoted is a subset from a paragraph titled GRANDFATHERED HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE DEFINED. - Subject to the succeeding provisions of this section, for purposes of establishing acceptable coverage under this division, the term ''grandfathered health insurance coverage'' means individual health insurance coverage that is offered and in force and effect before the first day of Y1 if the following conditions are met:"

meaning not just any junk insurance offered today will be allowed in. you'll stil be able to change plans, but the insurers will have to meet minimum requirements.

oh, i get it: you meant real consumer choice like we currently have? with our overpriced, rationed scam of a system that doesn't allow any choice at all for tens of millions of americans? or those tens of millions living paycheck to paycheck that would lose all coverage if they lost their job? cos that's definitely what i'd consider a consumer choice: you either have coverage if you're rich, lucky or both - or royally screwed.

enough is enough
translation: i'm mad as hell i'm not getting my way any more, who cares if my party destroyed the economy!

2. So, your right to change or buy new private health insurance will be obliterated.

Not quite, no. First, this is only for INDIVIDUAL, as opposed to GROUP, health insurance. Second, there can be new plans and you can join them, but they must be a part of the new Health Insurance Exchange.

So what this does is obliterate individual private health insurance outside of the Health Insurance Exchange.

Which is pretty bad in itself.

3. AMERICA’S NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY!

It’s official. America and the World are now in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. A World EPIDEMIC with potential catastrophic consequences for ALL of the American people. The first PANDEMIC in 41 years. And WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES will have to face this PANDEMIC with the 37th worst quality of healthcare in the developed World.

STAND READY AMERICA TO SEIZE CONTROL OF YOUR NATIONAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

We spend over twice as much of our GDP on healthcare as any other country in the World. And Individual American spend about ten times as much out of pocket on healthcare as any other people in the World. All because of GREED! And the PRIVATE FOR PROFIT healthcare system in America.

And while all this is going on, some members of congress seem mostly concern about how to protect the corporate PROFITS! of our GREED DRIVEN, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT NATIONAL DISGRACE. A PRIVATE FOR PROFIT DISGRACE that is in fact, totally valueless to the public health. And a detriment to national security, public safety, and the public health.

Progressive democrats the Tri-Caucus and others should stand firm in their demand for a robust government-run public option for all Americans, with all of the minimum requirements progressive democrats demanded. If congress can not pass a robust public option with at least 51 votes and all robust minimum requirements, congress should immediately move to scrap healthcare reform and request that President Obama declare a state of NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY! Seizing and replacing all PRIVATE FOR PROFIT health insurance plans with the immediate implementation of National Healthcare for all Americans under the provisions of HR676 (A Single-payer National Healthcare Plan For All).

Coverage can begin immediately through our current medicare system. With immediate expansion through recruitment of displaced workers from the canceled private sector insurance industry. Funding can also begin immediately by substitution of payroll deductions for private insurance plans with payroll deductions for the national healthcare plan. This is what the vast majority of the American people want. And this is what all objective experts unanimously agree would be the best, and most cost effective for the American people and our economy.

In Mexico on average people who received medical care for A-H1N1 (Swine Flu) with in 3 days survived. People who did not receive medical care until 7 days or more died. This has been the same results in the US. But 50 million Americans don’t even have any healthcare coverage. And at least 200 million of you with insurance could not get in to see your private insurance plans doctors in 2 or 3 days, even if your life depended on it. WHICH IT DOES!

If President Obama has to declare a NATIONAL STATE OF EMERGENCY to rescue the American people from our healthcare crisis, he will need all the sustained support you can give him. STICK WITH HIM! He’s doing a brilliant job.

THIS IS THE BIG ONE!

THE BATTLE OF GOOD Vs EVIL!

Join the fight.

Contact congress and your representatives NOW! AND SPREAD THE WORD!

4. What a bunch of baloney. The American people want, support and demand health care reform and the public option.
We pay the highest health care costs in the world yet rank 30th in care and performance. Thousands upon thousands have to file bankruptcy due to medical costs and many, many die because they cannot afford medical treatment.
We will no longer allow or tolerate big business, lobbyists, special interests and those who support them run our country. We will no longer accept those politicians who put campaign financing, personal gains and interests over our welfare.
Health care reform will not happen without government intervention. We must stop the republicans, big business and those misguided Democrats from ruining what is best for us. Speak out often and loud and clear. No more politics as usual.

6. kaitec:

The American people want, support and demand health care reform and the public option.

They do want reform, but not the Democratic version of it. And they do not want the public option. You're just making that up.

We pay the highest health care costs in the world yet rank 30th in care and performance.

False. We rank at or near the top in care and performance, for people WITH insurance. And the Democratic plan would decrease quality for the majority of Americans, who have insurance.

We will no longer allow or tolerate big business, lobbyists, special interests and those who support them run our country.

Funny you say that, since it is big business, lobbyists, special interests, and those who support them who are driving the Democratic health care reform. Oh, you must mean the OTHER big business, lobbyists, special interests, and those who support them. Not YOUR big business, lobbyists, special interests, and those who support them.

We will no longer accept those politicians who put campaign financing, personal gains and interests over our welfare.

How about no longer accepting politicians who sacrifice our unalienable rights, as the Democrats do with their health care reform plan?

Health care reform will not happen without government intervention.

This is a virtually meaningless statement. It is not government "intervention" that is the issue, it is the form of that intervention.

We must stop the republicans, big business and those misguided Democrats from ruining what is best for us.

"What is best for us" is to respect liberty. Always.

Which is why the Democratic version of reform must fail.

7. A.) it's not Obama's plan, he hasn't endorsed any version of any bill yet, and
B.) you have no idea what you're talking about... page 16 does NOT affect viability of private insurance in any way.

8. Hmmm, Obama a little too honest for his own good. He just told America that government takeover of healthcare will create "inefficiencies". Way to go, O! We finally agree with you!
