Dave "Cap & Trade" MIA at parade

The Independence Day parade in Carnation was notable today for the absence of Congressman Dave Reichert. He has not missed this before. Maybe all of our emails concerning "cap and trade" have him a little embarrassed to smile and wave at the people who elected him, and who now feel betrayed. The democrat contingent was populated by the usual suspects, all overshadowed by Segway boy Oemig, some raggedy hippy hold overs and for some reason - a Darcy Burner for Congress sign, which was taken from the ill informed democrat and hidden from view as soon as a DelBene sign holder noticed it. A huge source of amusement for the spectators at the beginning of the parade route

1. Come on now, I'm sure it must have been a complete coincidence! Yeah, just like it was also a complete coincidence that Reichert was removed from the agenda at the Republican Resurgence Rally in Bellevue this Friday featuring RNC Chairman Michael Steel. The original announcements for the event clearly indicated Reichert would be attending the Rally. However, sometime late last week Mr. Reichert was conspicuously removed from the program. Speaking of which, has Reichert held ANY town hall meetings in the last seven months?? I wonder if perhaps Reichert has been listening to Pelosi instead of his constituents? According to thehill.com,
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/dems-won-unexpected-gop-support-for-climate-bill-2009-07-04.html

"Through two meetings in her office - one a listening session and the second an education effort - Pelosi, bill authors Reps. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and Ed Markey (Mass.) and conservative Democratic Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.) were able to convince many of moderate Republicans to support the massive climate change bill."

2. Hopefully, by removing Reichert from attending the Rally, the GOP is beginning to realize that it had better get back to representing the basics of Conservatism. Trying to be toward the center and appealing to both Liberals and Conservatives is a losing proposition. They tried to be at the center with running McCain for president and if it wasn't for McCain selecting Palin as his running mate, the Republicans would have fared far worse than it did in the presidential elections. To continue to have Reichert exposure in the GOP will serve them in the same downward direction as was the selecting of McCain as the presidential nomine. The sooner Reichert runs out his term, the better.

3. I totally agree that so called Republicans running to center,(which is really the left), is a losing proposition.

We lost in '08 because of several factors: the collapse of the stock market in September, the endless media bashing against the Bush Administration, and the complete freak-out by the feminist left against Sarah Palin.
