1. Thanks very much for a great link. I'm pretty sure that one of the authors (Sorens) is the guy behind the libertarian 'Free State Project,' I wonder if the other, William Ruger, is related to Bill Ruger the late gun maker & founder of Sturm Ruger.

It seems that WA does have one big advantage that most of our taxes can be avoided with a little effort. You could drive to Portland once or twice per yr to shop tax-free.

2. Then I advocate that we move up the ranking then by legalizing prostitution, raw milk sales, marijuana use, full civil unions, and gambling.

This has to be the worst report I've seen come out of a think tank in a long time. They haven't proven a thing, nor have they used any sort of scientifically or statistically defensible methodology.

I did enjoy the quote, though:

However, extremely conservative governments do not appear to afford any more freedom overall than do moderate, centrist governments.
