VOTE TODAY FOR KC CONSERVATION DISTRICT POSITION (UPDATED)

Be sure to vote in a little-known but significant King County election today. According to sources, Preston Drew is the preferred candidate running for a seat on the five-member Board of Supervisors overseeing what is known as the King Conservation District.

The democrats are trying to conduct a write-in campaign to elect a far-left radical (Mark Sollitto) who filed for the position but due to a so-called 'technical error' did not make the ballot.

Help keep control of this King County board in conservative hands. It is important that you get out and vote today. Poll locations are open today until 9:00 pm at the following King County libraries:

Auburn
Bellevue
Carnation
Covington
Des Moines
Enumclaw
Issaquah
North Bend
Redmond
Renton
Shoreline
Vashon (closes at 8:30)

You may also vote at the Seattle Public Library (Downtown Main Branch), but only until 8:00 pm.

Because this is a little-known election, your vote is especially powerful. Bring along your spouse or other family members/friends to help keep the King Conservation District in sane hands. Vote for Preston Drew.

Update: Congratulations to Preston Drew of Carnation, who was declared the winner with 1357 votes. David Mauk of Carnation garnered 175 votes. And the losing write-in candidate Mark Sollitto from Seattle received 1199 votes.
To all SP readers who got out and voted, your efforts were certainly rewarded and your voices were extremely significant in a race decided by less than 200 votes.

Congrats again to Preston Drew, and we wish him well as he assumes his new responsibilities with the King Conservation District.

1. What a disaster! I showed up between 2 and 3 this afternoon to vote at the King County library in Shoreline. There was a non-moving line extending through the library lobby with a sign posted on the closed door to the polling room that no more voters could enter for 15 minutes. The folks ahead of me on line informed me that they'd already waited fifteen minutes and nothing was happening. Voters leaving the room warned that it had taken them upwards of twenty minutes to get through the process after getting through the door. Some on the line gave up because they had other places they needed to be and no more time left to spare. When I finally got into the room that had the polls, the 3 or 4 elderly men and women in charge were nervous and overwhelmed. Declaring that they couldn't possibly move all of us through the process, they broke us voters into two lines: one to be processed as provisional and the other to vote officially. Each of us on the "official" line had to wait to be processed by a woman who had to find each of our names in a computer database and then enter our names in several fields (or so it appeared). When we were finally given a piece of paper that emerged from the printer with our names on it and boxes for the poll workers to note if we voted regularly or provisionally, we had to go over to the second line and sign in. Only then were we handed a ballot. Thank you, gentleman on the provisional line, for letting me cut so I could make it on time to pick up my child at school. This is an improvement???

2. Well, I voted for the other candidate on the ballot, David Mauk, who is a good solid Democrat and who managed to file for the office properly.

Certainly, the turnout must be a lot higher for this election than in previous years. I voted at the Bellevue Public Library a little after 5:00 p.m. David Goldstein and his ex-wife were right behind me in the line. There were about four people in front of me, and it looked like they had well over 100, if not 200, people who had voted so far, based on the number of sheets of voting book (at three voters per page) they had used.

Wonder when they will post the results?

3. According to the KCD they will not have results until March 25th. Prediction, due to the unheard of practice of posting the write-in candidates name on the election announcements by the KCD, the write in candidate will win. Proving once again, it doesn't matter who votes, it matters who ran the election and guided voters to a preselected candidate. Supported by Constantine, Phillips and the authors of the CAO.
