Social Conservatism, Reagan, Bold Colors, and Abortion
by BerenForCongress, 09:21 AM, 1 Comments
I've posted below five quotes from President Ronald Reagan on the subject of abortion. In my post-election message shortly after the November 2008 elections, I wrote: "With the Democrats taking control of the White House in 2009, we in the conservative movement have great challenges ahead. There will be political battles with the Obama administration and the Pelosi-Reid congress over tax policy, government spending, health care, judicial appointments, and national defense. "Within the Republican Party, there will be important debates... [read more]

Government Trillions? Here is what you can do!
by JeffB., 10:31 PM, 3 Comments
President Obama is already over $3 Trillion in new spending. The numbers are staggering. We are looking at about $25K per taxpayer. Even if we soaked the evil rich, by taking 100% of everything made by those earning $500K or more a year, we'd only net about $1.3 Trillion. Nothing compared to Obama's lavish spending, and he has not even begun yet with Socialized Healthcare and TARP II. And what about the tens of trillions involved in Social Security as... [read more]

Patty Murray vs. Sean Salazar 2010! US SENATE. Need your help.
by 6p010536af4928970b, 11:31 PM, 1 Comments
With the Democrat party/European socialist party, having unilateral control over our country it is more important than ever that we elect conservative republicans to stand up for our core values. That's why in such a liberal state as Washington, it is important for republicans to start running now. We must work twice as hard now so I ask you to check out Sean Salazar's web site and start blogging. Also please consider donating $10 if you can. Thank you... [read more]

Organizing for Local Issues
by 6p01127907408a28a4, 12:35 PM, 0 Comments
We need people to become empowered to identify and work toward solutions for issues at a local level to really regrow a base of for conservative ideas. Those coming up with the best solutions for issues- win at the end of the day! Having found this site recently I believe the information contained here is such a site. Nationally a new site was launched called surgeusa.org on January 20th, 2009. The purpose of the site is to provide a network... [read more]
Does Social Conservatism still matter?
by 6p01053690976c970c, 08:39 AM, 5 Comments
I maintain that most Republicans are economic conservatives first, and social conservatives second. Arnold Schwarzenegger, for example, was well-regarded by most Republicans even though he was a social liberal from the start. It was only when he also bailed on fiscal conservatism that he lost favor. Jennifer Dunn was and is still revered even though she was at least mildly pro-choice. Mike Huckabee ran in the primaries as a social conservative/fiscal liberal and fell flat. As far as gay-rights, even... [read more]
More Fear Tactics From The Global Warming Crowd
by TrueSoldier, 06:20 AM, 0 Comments
Foxnews.com has this story: CAPE TOWN, South Africa -- If we don't deal with climate change decisively, "what we're talking about then is extended world war," the eminent economist said. "Somehow we have to explain to people just how worrying that is," the British economic thinker said. His audience Saturday, small and elite, had been stranded here by bad weather and were talking climate. They couldn't do much about the one, but the other was squarely in their hands. And... The National Party Should Take A Cue From CA GOP
by TrueSoldier, 06:00 AM, 0 Comments
USA Today( 23 Feb 2009 page 3a) has a small blurb about how the California Republican Party has voted to reprimand six GOP Lawmakers (three Senators and three Assembly). Theses six broke ranks and choose to vote for a budget which includes tax increases and borrow more money as a way to plug the $42 billion deficit the state is facing. According to the blurb: "The measure, which would deny party campaign money to the six, was approved Sunday by... [read more]

Feed Them to Make Them Dependent
by HairyBuddah, 10:51 PM, 1 Comments
I was listening to the Medved show today. He found a poll that suggested a majority of Americans believe that it is the responsibility of the Federal Government to feed people. That's just stupid. It's certainly not in the Constitution. People have a responsibility to provide food for themselves and their families, they don't have a right to food. There can be charity for the truly disabled, but that's not what we are talking about. The last thing in the... [read more]
BREAKING NEWS: Iran Has Enough Enriched Uranium To Make A Nuclear Bomb!!!
by TrueSoldier, 08:24 AM, 0 Comments
It was just announced on Foxnews that Iran has enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear bomb. This does not mean that Iran has a bomb, but it shows just how close they are to attaining one. No word as of yet of a reaction form the Obama administration. Not to mention Hillary Clinton is claiming no one really knows if North Korea really ever had a highly enriched uranium program.... cross posted: The TrueSoldier Rants... [read more]

And The Hypocrisy Grows Larger
by TrueSoldier, 07:19 PM, 0 Comments
I just saw this on Foxnews.com. Appearantly the Postmaster General received a huge raise and a bonus last year even though the postal service is faltering. Postmaster General John Potter's base salary climbed to $265,000 last year from $186,000 in 2007 and he received a performance bonus of $135,000, all approved by Congress. And this from a Congress who chided failing companies for paying bonuses to their CEO's. cross posted: The TrueSoldier Rants... [read more]
Dems Use $500k in Taxpayer Money for Annual Retreats
by TrueSoldier, 10:27 AM, 0 Comments
The Hill has this story about The House Democratic Caucus spending more than $500,000 of taxpayer money to help pay for their annual retreats: The House Democratic Caucus spent more than $500,000 in taxpayer money over the past five years for its annual retreats at resorts in Pennsylvania and Virginia. On Thursday, Democrats will head to the Kingsmill Resort and Spa in historic Williamsburg, Va., for the three-day planning powwow. Yet Another Unintended Consequence Moment
by TrueSoldier, 02:29 PM, 0 Comments
I saw an article today in USA Today (Lead law throttles youth powersports by William M. Welch print edition 17 Feb 09) about a law passed by Congress this past summer (check this link for background info) that went into effect on the 10th of Feb and the unintended consequences it is having on one industry that was actually thriving even with the state of the economy. Here is what the story says about the law: "Passed by Congress after... [read more]

The Press That Doesn't Learn From (Its Own False) History
by HairyBuddah, 06:03 PM, 0 Comments
I am struck, although not terribly surprised, that the press is unwilling to learn from the history it synthesized. Looking back on the run up to the war in Iraq, it was pretty clear that the US public really wasn't entirely satisfied with the invasion of Afghanistan (where?) as a response to 9/11. Saddam was pretty clearly a very bad guy. He had lost a previous war, and was failing to live by the terms of the truce. He was... [read more]

Steve Hammond for King County Interim Executive
by 6p011278d9d3ae28a4, 01:58 PM, 0 Comments
On February 2nd, King County Executive Ron Sims posted a statement on the county website regarding his appointment to HUD, and calling for a "caretaker" Executive to serve out the remainder of 2009. I recommend Steve Hammond for that position. To quote Sims, "This interim Executive should be a person of unquestioned experience, stature and integrity who has no intention of running in the November 2009 election. There are many in our community that could be trusted with such stewardship."... [read more]

Green take-out; aluminum waste
by ccwt, 07:53 PM, 1 Comments
For the past few weeks Seattle residents have suffered the new paper-board take out trays - you know, the ones that leak through in 5 minutes and collapse in 20 when the food is moist or saucy. Today our local teriyaki place has begun putting aluminum foil across the tray sections before filling with food - YES !!!! I love it, and tell them so. So our wonderful greenies got their "sustainable" legislation to force vendors to use the paper... [read more]

So, for the more politically ignorant (Eric?) do you STILL support that moronic bail out?
by Hinton, 07:21 PM, 3 Comments
Somebody here (Me, for sure, and other pragmatic types not blinded by party and understanding of reality) came out swinging against the moronic TARP bailout of early October. Among other things, we were told by some who SHOULD have known better: "If Congress leaves town without doing something reasonable in a timely manner on this subject, then it be almost impossible to feel sorry for any Member who was for doing nothing. SOYLENT GREEN OR A TOILET FLUSH? Major environmental groups now in big cat fight about what to do with HUMAN REMAINS AFTER DEATH or corpses! Because of tightening and costly space requirements in cemeteries all over the world, particularly Europe, many bodies are being illegally dumped at sea to wash up on the beach. In one case at a luxury resort at the Spanish Riviera or Costa del Sol! The smell was just awful for the guests trying to... [read more]

Barack's Vap-O-President
by jabailo, 10:31 PM, 2 Comments
There was a very telling SNL skit on Saturday featuring Barack and Joe Biden impersonations. The theme was remember when...the Convention, the Primary...it all seemed so clear. But now the election is over, and people are sitting at their cubicles or desks in the White House and doing...what? Yes. For me, the silence from Washington is deafening. I was expecting a torrent of legislation. I thought an Army of Liberal-Democrats would be storming the country by now, enacting programs, rallying... [read more]
