So how is Obama going to take from the "rich" and give to the "poor"? Or more accurately, how will he take from those who earn more and give their wealth to the 3rd of American taxpayers who already pay zero income tax?
Obama was asked yesterday about his new tax pledge on working Americans and small business. These are his words, expressed with no teleprompter or previously written speech from one of his speechwriters.
"It's not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too. I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." - Video - Barack Obama
Translation: Obama believes in government enforced financial equity, not government sponsored equality of opportunity. If someone has more than you, Obama believes the wealthy have a duty to give more and more of what they earn to you, even if you're economic situation is a situation of your own making, and even if that loss of investment in the economy, creating jobs and growth, is reduced. Joe Biden has gone so far to say that it is patriotic to pay more taxes for this redistribution. On the Biden scale, the top 5% of taxpayers, who pay more than 60% of all the income taxes, are already pretty patriotic, but not patriotic enough yet. Are the bottom 35% who pay no taxes not patriotic under the Biden standard?
From Wikipedia at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism
"Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth into a small section of society who control capital, and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved."
Also see the growing series on Obama's socialist strategy for the United States. Unfortunately, Americans already bought-off by the promise of a check from the rich don't care about the details, but their check is only the start of the change Obama will pursue if elected.

So if you're an alcoholic living in the Seattle drunk housing where you can drink in your room, you get your check from some taxpayer who didn't drink but earned a decent living, so you can spend your check on more booze?
Bad idea, Barack. Please, we really don't want our first communist president!
Posted by: Michele on October 13, 2008 07:20 PMOh wait, everyone else has the same idea so no one works very hard and everyone's standard living goes to hell. But at least everyone has economic equality.
