Pro Market Senators in the NW

Here in the Pacific NW we have 6 senators. Based on todays bailout vote it appears three are pro free market and three are pro socialism.

Voting for the unpopular bailout and increased control of the financial sector
Murray (D) WA
Craig (R) ID
Smith (R) OR

Voting no to the unpopular bailout
Cantwell (D) WA
Crapo (R) ID
Wyden (D) OR

I am not too familiar with the Oregon and Idaho senators (other than their escapades in MN airports!) but I was very surprised to see Cantwell voting against it. I typically find myself taking the opposition position as her. I hope others that favor the free market let their senator Cantwell know that your appreciate her making the right stand.

1. You know Travis. I can't decide which way is the better to go. My heart tells me to let the free market work its way out of it, whether now or later, but the nasty brain says, "let's be practical".

I have been happy that McCain went back there and took on the majority Dems and R president. His presence stopped the railroad. The provisions added are more free market.

A ton of pork remains if you can believe the analyses being done now. Hopefully, another day and a lot of them will be gone.

Overall, will this help? I honestly don't know and I honestly don't know who to believe. I would probably go YES myself- but I would hold out to get rid of a little more pork. The risk is too great.

The restraints on the free market got us into this mess and must get us out of it.

2. McCain did not go back to take on teh Democrat leadership and president. He supports their plan. He went back there to drum up support for the President and Democratic leadership!

He did so even while the senate ADDED pork to the bill.

Practical is not the word I would describe the bailout. First of all we do not have the 850 billion so it is not practical that we spend an additional 850. Second, socialism is not practical, it only makes things worse.
