Locally a democrat politician loses her home in a tragic fire - and ignites a conspiracy firestorm

No jokes, this is a tragedy.  Darcy Burner, the democrat nominee to the 8th District Congressional seat, lost her home to a fire this morning.

The Burner's and their dog escaped injury, and their cat was lost.

As I said, this is every family's nightmare.  To be woken up at 7am by your child telling you his room is on fire is an experience I am happy to avoid.  Thank God they did waken and escape.

Now the cause is under investigation, with rumours off a gas main blowing and a faulty light in the child's room running forefront.

The fact it started in a child's room might lead to other speculation, as it would not be the first time that a child has done something tragically stupid.

Hopefully not.

What I was curious about when I read this story this afternoon was how long it would take our local loony left to blame this on the republicans.

I didn't have long to wait, nor was I the first to wonder.  Browsing to Horsesass.org, the local den of rabid liberals, and a stronghold of Burner Support, I was not disappointed.

Here are a couple examples from the comments:

Blue John spews:

It's a sad world where I considered that it could be some sort of republican dirty trick. "Can't win legitimately, so burn her house down and distract her, at the very least."

ME spews:

No conspiracy needed... just a right-wing jerk with a gas can and a chip on his shoulder.

I'm sure there aren't any of THOSE types around there.

My Left Foot spews:

By the way, just where was Reichert this morning??

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmm??

ByeByeGOP spews:

Which of the right wing fuckheads did this and will there be justice? I knew the righties would resort to this shit. It's all they have - it's all they can do. They can't win with ideas so they try to win with intimidation! Come to my house bitches and you'll find it tougher to burn down.

We need to start a reward fund that leads to putting the right wing prick in jail.

Steve spews:

@87 Hmm, more likely it was those commie-fascists at the BIAW. I hear they have some recent experience with torching homes.

Of course at least one Righty had their comment:

mark spews:

Darcy "Burner" ahhhhahhhhh. She probably owes
more on her house than it's worth. Couldn't
get that fancy Countrywide deal like the rest
of the Democrats. What a bunch.

All the above are uncalled for.

Look, I have no love for this woman.  During her last campaign, she misrepresented herself as a former Microsoft Executive, which she was not, nor was she even close.  Her ads were typical democrat hatchet pieces and she has even less experience then Obama...a scary thought on it's own.

But I don't think anyone honest would wish this kind of loss on anyone.

Now, several times on the Blog above right wingers made mention to how Goldy was being hypocritical.  He took her tragedy and turning it into a pimp for donations and volunteers...to her campaign.  Goldy, aka David Goldstein is several anti republican democrat, such that he is quite unhinged quite often.

The accusation was made that he would be must less saddened and compassionate if this had happened to Rep Dave Reichert or any other prominent republican, and frankly, I agree.

His typical irrational hatred of all things conservative is renowned.

But that is his blog, and if the right wingers dislike it, they should move on.   Expecting otherwise would be like waiting for leopard to change his spots.

This blog was nothing more then what you would expect at Horsesass.org, including the comments.

Sad.

1. Amen. I was considering a similar post. To be fair, there are several righty nutter comments in the threads too, more than the one you noted.

My beef with HA is that Goldy encourages the bathroom wall mentality that are his comment threads. It is despicable that Goldy tolerates what has become ordinary behavior for the party that tears down campaign signs, keys cars, engages in angry shoutdowns and protests, uses force and threats to get what they want, squats in trees, sits on railroad tracks blocking trains, burns effigies of the President, burn flags, etc.

2. I thought it was revealingly tacky for Goldy to leap right over to "time to contribute to her campaign, ya know!"
Goodness, today is a day to just sit and be glad that the whole family got out. Campaigns of any kind seem far, far down the list. At least that's how most normal people think, in these circumstances.

And for the commenters over there to start accusing Rs of having anything to do with this just shows how sick and twisted everyone there is.

3. Burner's ties to the Horse's Ass folks are Dave Reichert's greatest asset. If the Dems put up a decent moderate candidate, I would not bother voting for Reichert.

One consequence of BDS is that it has hurt the development of the Dems' 'bench' of candidates ready to challenge for vacancies or against vulnerable incumbents.

4. TV had one of the more compelling quotes. They mentioned the house started out as a small cabin and had several remodels. That means they may have kept some old electrical or some of the old electrical connections failed and started the fire.

If the old cabins had been torn down and a new one built, there would have been more paperwork than if they just 'remodeled'. Ergo, the expediency to remodel and remodel over and over.

The pictures I saw of the fire was nasty and the family was sure lucky to escape with their lives.

As for the procurer at HA expressing sorrow if it had been someone on the other side of his spectrum. Forgetabout it!!! He, personally, is notorious for taking the low road (ergo, the web site content he has). I use when Falwell had a stroke a couple of years before he died. The procurer was shouting and writing with glee that Falwell might die. (Therefore, I only go to the web site when Eric or Orbus suggest a topic over there which is about twice a year)

5. My sympathy to Burner and her family. I know first hand what a house fire can do to your life. One thing is certain--they will never, ever again be able to enjoy the smell of a campfire, barbeque, or fireplace fire without bad memories and a feeling of loss.

That said--- Where in the world do these liberals get the idea that they are so important in the grand scheme of things? It takes a massive collective ego to believe that everything that happens is about THEM. That is an incredibly narcisstic worldview. Stuff happens--move on!

Well said, but it may not be so much narcissism as BDS. One aspect of BDS is that everything must be explained via politics including housefires.

7. When I look at HA on this topic, what comes out is that Goldy sounds more concerned about her campaign than about Darcy herself. It's subtle, but it's there.

8. It was my first time to read posts on HA.org and I'm really thankful that the posts here don't contain the hate and profanity that seems to permeate Goldy's website. Sheesh, that place is a zoo filled with what seem to be a bunch of angry, name-calling drunks.

9. I can't imagine the devastation they must be experiencing... I wish them well...

...except, I hope they forget to live in the district!

It might be a good time dor Darcy to move to Seattle and give Jim McDermott a run for his money... surely her style is more in tune with his constituents.
