Happy overthrow your government day!

May we all pray that we can manage to do it again soon.

1. Travis, you are a treasonous asshole. I really can't be anymore warm or fuzzy than that. If you really hate this country so much then piss off and go to Canada. We owe a great debt of gratitude to our forefathers but if you think for one second that they'd be currently advocating revolution (or reLOVEution or whatever stupid little slogan you Paulistians come up with) then you're out of your mind like all the rest of you. You all think we're living in some police state run by the Bush administration. Well, in your case I wish we were. I'd love to see your pathetic ass thrown in a dark hole never to be seen again.

2. Well said WFP! Travis and the rest of his extreme Paultards need to get a life (outside of our great country!)

3. WFP:

I certainly do not ask that you be warm and fuzzy but it would be nice if you were not rude and obscene.

You should first recognize that I am not treasonous by wishing people a happy overthrow the government day. Nor am I saying I hate this country. I am being patriotic by wanting to restore this country to its greatness. And I want to do this because I love what this country stands for. Something I see less and less of from our government every day.
Second you are dead wrong if you think the forefathers would not be advocating revolution. Read through the declaration of independence again and compare it today. All I and many other conservatives are asking for is a return to what the founding fathers set up for the most part. we are not saying we live in a police state now, but we do recognize that we do not have what the founders intended.

If you want to disagree, by all means do so. But how about we be civil to one another. Thanks.

4. Advocating revolution is rude and obscene and again, I serisously doubt the forefathers would be advocating it. I agree that things aren't running in tip top shape in the US but we're a far cry from not being able to solve our problems without the system already in place. Seriously, do you even know what the Revolution was really about? No representation. Today we have representation. Maybe it's not great but we still have the means to "vote the bums out" as they say without resorting to picking up arms and storming the Capitol. And if you do think we've gotten that far, please, I beg you, grab you and your nutty friends, steal a couple of tanks from the armory and drive up the Capitol steps. It would be exciting stuff to watch on TV, especially when a few hundred guardsmen blow your butts up.

5. We get a chance to overthrow our government every other year on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. No violence is needed anymore. :)

Violent revolution appeals to Travis because 95% of voters strongly disagree with his narrow politics.

6. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." ~ Thomas Jefferson

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." ~ Thomas Jefferson

"If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable; and let it come! I repeat, Sir, let it come!" ~ Patrick Henry

7. I've heard it said that the United States is at that awkward stage where it is too late to fix things, but too early to shoot the bastards.

It is not yet time for violence, and anyway, what could we do against the SWAT teams of the ATF?

I'd say that now is the time for peaceful non-cooperation with the federal government.

I applaud anyone who finds a way to not pay income taxes. But I am not brave enough to do this myself. I've got a family...

But I hear that as many as about 20% of people who should by law file a tax return actually don't. One in five are already doing what I propose.

We need a peaceful revolution. Let's take a page from Gandhi. He was successful against the greatest empire of his time...

8. WFP:

If advocating revolution is crude and obscene, than our forefathers were crude and obscene. I however disagree and think that our current government is crude and obscene.

I do know what the revolution was about. As you mention... taxation without representation is a big reason. Today DC governs us with much less input from the states than London governed the colonies. The taxation is also much higher now in the states than it was in the colonies before the revolution.

AD:

I have not advocated violent revolution. I advocated overthrowing our current government that can be done in a multitude of ways and I pray that the ballot box will be successful.
