Democrats 7-10 Year Argument Against Drilling

Recently the Democrats in Congress have made the claim that we can not drill for oil in our own country whether it offshore, the continental shelf or in ANWAR, as it would take 7-10 years to see any relief at the pump.

Well this argument could be made against alternative fuels too. How long will it take to develop and bring online a new fuel source? Could it take 7-10 years to do this?

With the Democrats making the 7-10 year argument they have basically said that we need to stick to the status quo of purchasing our oil from foreign governments and that we should not develop any new fuel sources or oil fields as it will not bring immediate relief to the pump.

Even if we did decide as a nation that we would only develop alternative fuel sources it would not alleviate our costs as the Democrats claim it will. For example, let's say that we take and build nothing but alternative fueled cars in the near future. How many average Americans are out there that can afford to spend the $20,000 - $30,000 for a new car that runs on this new fuel. My guess is not many.

This is why we need to take and combine both drilling for oil in our own country and to continue to develop alternative fuel sources. This has a win win situation as we would reduce our dependency on foreign oil and we would introduce healthy competition into the market that would not only reduce the price of both traditional and alternative fuel cars, but in the long run we would see lower fuel costs. By reducing the fuel costs this way we will also see a reduction in prices for goods and services across the board as the fuel costs for businesses will also be reduced.

By drilling and developing we could see our Country's economy flourish as consumers will have more money to spend and we will no longer be held hostage by the likes of OPEC. Of course this could take 7-10 years, but if we do not start now we will never get there.

1. The 7-10 year thing is a phoney argument. Someone with a relative in the industry who actually DID know something about this said he told her it would actually be about THREE years. The "it would take too long" argument is just a stall tactic and nothing more. The truth is, they DON'T WANT drilling at all, and are trying to hide behind a phoney front of concern about taking too much time. Where are THEIR solutions that are available next week, next year.....

2. Not to mention that this 7-10 year argument is the same broken record they've been using for years. They used this argument when Clinton originally prevented drilling in ANWR.

Democrats have a legacy of obfuscation, anti-progress, anti-technology and anti-mankind policies.

Vote the bums out.

3. Hell Bush has been pushing this and all Dumbocraps have been resisting this for 8 years, we would NOT be in this situation had we started to drill 7 to 8 years ago.

Who's to blame.....Can you spell D_U_M_B_O_C_R_A_P_S

4. With polling, even among d's, swinging wildly AGAINST the "no-drill" position, it will be interesting to see the fallout.

Unfortunately for the left, the "7-10 year" argument is utterly senseless.

Today, we look back on the useless Carter Administration, and begin asking of him and subsequent presidents "Why?"

Oliar the Empty Suit would now repeat that folly by ignoring our need to drill as part of a comprehensive program to gain energy independence. Talk about politically tone-deaf.

As prices increase, it's a matter of time until the groundswell of opposition to their idiotic positions on ANWR and all off-shore drilling becomes so overwhelming that even the fringe nutters have to acknowledge it.

Every time the price at the pump goes up, the opposition to Oliar's positions on these issues, even by democrats, goes up with it.

5. didn't we hear some alone the same lines when Saddam set the oil wells on fire, it would take 10 years to put them out, seems like it took them less than a year. I bet if the oil companies were given the go ahead to drill in ANWR or offshore it wouldn't be very long till the oil flows.
