Sorry for my recent lack of blogging. The usual excuse: I've been busy (gardening, job hunting, gathering my bearings, et al).
I'm sure many of you have seen this clever picture or ones like it. Every time I go to fill up, I tend to glance around at the other people pumping their tanks full of liquid gold and I usually see a lot of faces that look like they could be poster children for depression commercials, and I'm sure I look a lot like it too:
Yep, it stinks.
Arm: I just filled up yesterday at $4.33 for regular unleaded.
Leg: There's NOTHING in this area below $4.30 a gallon (Arco doesn't count--it's like water).
Firstborn: My dad spends around $150 every other day to fill up his big diesel work truck. The closest gas station to home (the one we all avoid) is at $4.53 a gallon for regular unleaded. Uff-da!
Anyone else with any cheery gasoline-pump stories? Leave a comment.

Senators Patty, Maria & Barak think this is a good thing. It will force us to develop new energy sources, they say. Throw the baby out with the bath water, they say. It doesn't matter that it will take years to wean the USA off oil, and in the mean time we could sustain ourselves if we chose to. But Senators Patty, Maria & Barak would rather have the USA give away our treasury to nations that really are not our friends.

Posted by: gs on June 29, 2008 10:29 PMARCO gas runs fine in my 95 Jeep. Due to the lower price, I've been buying gas at AM/PM stores for almost 3 years with nary a problem. I filled up at the AM/PM near Muckleshoot Casino yesterday for $4.21/gal (+ $0.45 for using debit card at the pump).
Something that I'm curious about is why more stations don't offer a cash discount over using a credit card for gasoline purchases. You can get %3 or more back by using certain "cash back" credit cards for gas purchases. Why don't the retailers just give you the break at the time of purchase?
I found this article on the web that might be of use to some.
