That is in contrast to Republican presidential candidate John McCain's Senate office, where women, for the most part, out-rank and are paid... [read more]

Why Public Schools Are Failing At Math
by TrueSoldier, 06:58 AM, 1 Comments
Over the last few decades there has been a decline in the math scores at public schools pretty much nation wide. Well I think I can shed some light on the reason. I was sent this by a friend years ago and I honestly do not know who wrote it, but to whoever wrote my hat is off to you: Teaching Math In the fifties: A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5... [read more]

Shocking Revelation, Republicans Hire Republicans
by warrenpeterson, 09:57 PM, 2 Comments
http://clearfogblog.wordpress.com/2008/06/26/shocking-revelation-republicans-hire-republicans/ There are two ways a President of the United States can continue his influence long after leaving office. The obvious one of course is the appointment of judges. Another, which gets little note until now, is the hiring of civil servants. The incoming administration generally replaces political appointees from the outgoing administration. But people hired under civil service may stay as long as they are breathing. This explains why a new cabinet secretary may have problems changing policies or... [read more]

Gas Prices: Arm, Leg, & Firstborn Child
by Cydney, 11:44 AM, 5 Comments
Sorry for my recent lack of blogging. The usual excuse: I've been busy (gardening, job hunting, gathering my bearings, et al). I'm sure many of you have seen this clever picture or ones like it. Every time I go to fill up, I tend to glance around at the other people pumping their tanks full of liquid gold and I usually see a lot of faces that look like they could be poster children for depression commercials, and I'm sure... Father of Canada's Socialized Medicine Recants
by John425, 02:05 PM, 1 Comments
http://www.powerlineblog.com/ Claude Castonguay is the father of socialized medicine in Canada. In the 1960s, he chaired a Quebec commission whose recommendation of a government-run health care system for that province was adopted, and quickly spread to the rest of the country. Now, after forty years of experience with socialized medicine, Castonguay has changed his mind: Four decades later, as the chairman of a government committee reviewing Quebec health care this year, Castonguay concluded that the system is in "crisis." "We... [read more]

Congress' Use of our Intelligence Assests
by TrueSoldier, 01:37 AM, 0 Comments
NRO has the story that Congressional Democrats have decided to use some intelligence assets to write up estimates about global warming. You would think that after 9/11 that we would have learned from our intelligence failures and work harder on ensuring that our intelligence agents are used to track real threats to our nation, like terrorists, but once again the powers that be in Congress have decided that they will live in a 9/10 world instead and forget about reality.... Obama "Not corrupt like the rest of Chicago Politicians".
by tmonroe, 09:45 PM, 1 Comments
On the lighter side, I thought this newspaper article was pretty funny: http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/1025587,CST-NWS-obamaforweb26.article "There is no doubt I had friends and continue to have friends who come out of the more traditional school of Chicago politics but that's not what launched my political career and that's not what I've ever depended on to get elected, and I would challenge any Chicago reporter to dispute that basic fact." Okay, where do we start? First off, just because Obama's friends were corrupt,... [read more]

Utah Republicans Clean House!
by John425, 03:14 PM, 0 Comments
Republican Rep. Chris Cannon (Utah) overwhelmingly lost his primary race to border enforcement advocate Jason Chaffetz. Chaffetz, a former chief of staff to Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, beat Cannon by more than twenty points. Bay Buchanan, chairman of the Team America PAC sent, out a glowing email to PAC supporters to praise his Chaffetz's win. "Friends, Jason ran a great campaign on out of control spending, immigration, and $4 gas," she wrote. "Bottom line: he pounded Cannon on abandoning conservative... [read more]

My Take On Tax Returns
by TrueSoldier, 06:32 AM, 0 Comments
I have been meaning to get to this subject for quite sometime, but it has been hectic as of lately. I have been thinking lately on tax returns and have come to notice how many people plan on using their tax returns for this or that and it made me stop and think. Happier than your liberal friends? Here's why.
by JeffB., 01:36 PM, 3 Comments
Check out this new study in Scientific American that shows why conservatives are happier than liberals. The study rightly points out that conservatives tend to see inequity as due to differences in the meritocracy. In other words, the harder you work and achieve, the more you get. Whereas progressives tend to see inequity as an inherently unjust system. Unchangeable. And thus, the world is out to get them and they are helpless and at its mercy. But there are two... Obama's first national TV ad is a lie!

From: http://ace.mu.nu/ Even the nutjobs at Daily Kos figured this one out Barack Obama released his first general election ad on Friday... About 46 seconds into the ad, we are told that Obama "passed laws" that "extended healthcare for wounded troops who'd been neglected," and in the usual manner of these political commercials we are given a little citation at the bottom. http://www.nypost.com/seven/06192008/postopinion/opedcolumnists/obama_vs__osama_116128.htm?page=0 Journalists have let Barack Obama make any claim he chooses about Iraq, Afghanistan or coping with terrorism without pinning him down for details. Yet many of his comments and positions seem stunningly naive about national security. Given that this man may become our next president, shouldn't he explain how he'd do the many impressive things he's promised? This week, Obama claimed, again, that he'd promptly capture Osama bin Laden. OK, tell me how: Specifically, which concrete measures would he... [read more]

http://clearfogblog.wordpress.com/2008/06/17/obama-end-of-american-racism/ There has been a spate of articles lately about prominent African-American Republicans considering voting for Obama. Colin Powell, talk show host Armstrong Williams and former Congressman and Fox News analyst J. C. Watts have all been quoted as saying they may vote for Obama. OK, I may be narrow minded, but this bothers me.  I overheard this today on The Commentators. Here in Washington, like other states, we have the state standards of graduation.  One of those is the controversial WASL, which has been under a lot of heat for being an assessment test that assesses nothing. Why US History IS so Important
by TrueSoldier, 07:46 AM, 0 Comments
