Holy telemarketing politician Batman!
We are called daily by the Campaign for Dino Rossi. Once, it was twice in the same day. My husband would answer the phone and I would hear him say "sorry, not interested" and hang up. One of the times he tells them to please stop calling. So this time I answer the phone and it's them again.
The man starts his spiel "I'm calling on behalf of Dino Rossi..."
Me in a firm and slightly pissy voice - "Do you realize you have called us daily? Even when we've asked you not to call? Do you really think this is the way to get voters? By pissing us off? You even called us twice in one day once. If I had any question about voting for Dino Rossi, do you really think I'm liking him now?"
silence
The man - "Sorry, we're..."
Me - hang up
Haven't heard from his campaign for the last few days. Probably trying to lull me into thinking my tirade mattered.
I hate that even though I'm on the "Do Not Call" registry that they can still call me and in such an aggressive manner no less. Politicians already have web pages and TV time and ads, leave my phone alone.
Posted by Susannity at April 07, 2008 10:55 AM | Email ThisDO NOT CALL puts your number on a LIST and that list is only as secure as the least honest person with access to it.
Try putting your phone number (land line) into a Reverse Directory and see how quickly your pertinant info pops up.
With an UNLISTED NUMBER, you are STILL listed somewhere... even directory assistance can see that you're listed and can acknowledge that... they just can't give out your number.
NON-PUBLISHED is just that... you don't exist on any list... even to directory assistance.
When I put our non-published number into a reverse directory I get "SORRY, WE DIDN'T FIND ANY DIRECTORY RESULTS FOR ***-****.
This is one of the easiest no-brainer solutions to annoying solicitation calls.

How silly of me.
A conservative will solve their own problems EVEN WHEN IT COST A BIT EXTRA.
Of course a liberal wants the same problem solved...for FREE.
Good luck, kiddo. My dinner won't be interupted... nor my lunch, breakfast, snack time, or any other part of my day.
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on April 7, 2008 06:06 PMRagnar, liberals want problems solved for free? And it's usually conservatives that want privacy rights... I'm sorry I upset you by being unhappy with your candidate's campaign tactics.
You all shouldn't be so upset with Obama's CHANGE message either considering that's what's plastered all over Rossi's barely there website.
Posted by: Susannity on April 7, 2008 06:15 PMUmmm Yeah Susannity, Perhaps you should have taken your own advice before posting this blog.
Posted by: Rick D. on April 7, 2008 06:42 PMYou complain about the tactics, but are too lazy, cheap, whatever, to solve them for yourself.
The tactics are legitimate. The onus is on YOU if they bother YOU. Of course, from your follow-up screed, it's fairly clear it wasnt the tactics that bothered you, it was that a REPUBLICAN bothered you.
You might want to work on not being quite so blatantly transparent.
Who the hell brought up Obama? Oh yes, it was YOU.
Cute tactics.
It can't offer solutions, just point fingers at Democrats (who do the same thing - you guys aren't getting a free pass here either).
It can't offer up a good candidate for president - it just makes fun of the one that already lost.
It can't figure out if it's some kind of new conservative thing that supports socialism or free markets. When called on it, people say that free market people couldn't get elected around here, so they offer some quasi free market candidates instead that just give the free market a bad name.
It can't even admit to the above - someone is going to argue it in this thread thus proving my point rofl
Posted by: Andrew Brown on April 7, 2008 09:04 PMThe party is nothing to me. I vote for individuals, not parties, as I have voted for people in many different parties. How about you?
Rick D still has me LOL. =)
Posted by: Susannity on April 8, 2008 12:31 AMStop complaining, stop crying and DO SOMETHING.... like HANG UP, like get a NON-PUBLISHED NUMBER.
How about me?
I refuse to take your thinly veiled bait. Your tantrum isn't about political phone calls it's about a particular politician.
Furthermore, the one little chink in your story is that there is absolutely NO REASON for any campaign to make daily phone calls 8 MONTHS BEFORE THE ELECTION.
Nice try.
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on April 8, 2008 09:59 AMHillary, lol. Whining about baiting and that's all you got? I haven't been called by HRC, Obama, McCain, Gregoire, anyone, but Rossi. And I'm not the only one. Guess we're all liars cause Ragnar says so! LOL
Let's see, front page news today how Gregoire is kicking off her campaign. You should call her and tell her she's too early.
And which of us can't see the DIFFERENCE between campaigning {yes the old taxpayer funded listening tour} and calling for votes 8 months ahead of the election?
Are you purposefully dense?
YOU haven't been called by HRC, Obama, McCain, Gregoire, anyone, but Rossi.
I haven't been called by ANYONE.
Oh gee.... enjoy your dinner.
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on April 8, 2008 04:53 PMlookee lookee - you can volunteer to call people on behalf of Rossi. =P
I know it can suck to be wrong. Enjoy your dinner lol. Oh, go ahead try again heh. I'm done.
Posted by: Susannity on April 8, 2008 05:50 PMSo please, leave the "Do Not Call" list out of this. It's irrelevant. No political campaigns ever look at it, as they have no social or legal requirement to.
Posted by: pudge on April 8, 2008 05:54 PM9. Why do some voters receive duplicate calls?
Many voters are not used to being in the spotlight during the primary election and may be surprised at the attention. It is possible that the same voter will be called for various reasons, such as to early vote and then to vote on election day. There is also a chance that a voter will receive a call from a local organizer as well as a national volunteer caller. If you speak with someone who is concerned about receiving numerous calls, please apologize and remind them that it is because the stakes are so high in this election and their role is so valuable in choosing the Democratic nominee.

Build a bridge and get over it....
Posted by: Rick D. on April 8, 2008 06:23 PMOthers, clearly, are too dumb or too cheap to take good advice...
... Because, Miss Dinner Interrupted, this post never had anything to do with solicitations of any kind and everything to do with Rossi angst, anger, animosity... and fear.
Nice try.
