Clay Bennett: Mayor of Seattle!

I propose that the Republican party float Clay Bennett as our candidate for Mayor of Seattle.

Reasons:

Obvious: He comes here. The Sonics stay here.

Not so obvious: Seattle and King County face problems in quality of life, transportation, housing and environment. Most of these problems are due to Liberal politicians who float this way and that and who have the emotional level of 6 year olds. We need someone with a spine who can stand up to all the whiners and make sound business judgments.

Clay Bennett is that.

1. As a former NBA junkie, I read through a lot of the postings on the Sonic soap opera, especially at the PI site. One interesting thing mentioned by a guy who had lived in both Seattle and OK pointed out that in Seattle, if there was a need for say, a new freeway, it would take a $30 million study first. In OK it would take a 30 min. study, namely a few grey heads getting together and saying let's do this. Then they would do it.

I remember that after the 2001 earthquake the Seattle Times had a story that the state had done a $100,000 study of how the viaduct might be preserved as a historic landmark; at the same time they were doing a study of how it might be torn down.

2. I thought you were moving.

I already 'feel' that the Sonics have left the building. I have no ties to this team. I couldn't even tell you the names of the players.

3. He's a one trick pony. Disagree - There are too many progressives who are knee-jerk and would vote for Hugo Chavez and any other Commie over a Republican. Not enough Sonic fans amongst the unwashed progressive masses of Seattle - the place has really slipped since the late '70s when the Sonics were in their heyday.
