I call everyone's attention to page B-1 in today's Sunday Herald. In some of the worst reporting I have ever seen in any newspaper, Katya Yefimova headlines: "Bill sets goal of 2020 for cutting greenhouse gases". While the piece does include a valid comment by Val Stevens, it completely fails to mention what the bill is really all about: a major tax bill on the people of the State of Washington complete with sweeping regulatory big brother control of any emissions that the Department of Ecology claims cause "greenhouse gases"; in other words an attack on CO2.
For those of us out here with half a brain operating with above room temperature IQ's who have followed this legislation (Washington State Farm Bureau being the leader here), this is a disaster for the short and long term economy of Washington State all being driven by a hoax. The only significant greenhouse gas in this planet's atmosphere is water vapor and not the .12% of CO2 in the atmosphere emitted by mankind (number from Greenpeace!).
What I find particularly disturbing is the complete lack of any substantive reporting here on this EXTREMELY IMPORTANT ISSUE, being driven by the usual suspects including Paul Brainerd and the Futurewise radical group being the ones out front in Olympia.
This combined with a rash of bogus CO2 caused 'global warming' Associated Press stories being run by the Everett "Washington Post" makes it clear that the 'Herald' is now completely out of touch with this county and the people who live here.
PS: I don't know whether you noticed or not but there was a piece on E-1 of this same Sunday edition complaining about the high cost of gasoline in Snohomish County. This lousy piece of reporting failed to mention the fact that almost $.60 a gallon cost of that gas are state and federal taxes and that most of the tax money collected in Snohomish County is being sent to King County leaving us with nothing much done on the 'highway of death' US2 and a cut of around 50% on road projects in the county.
This newspaper has so far refused to run my letter to the editor about the Echo Lake disaster.
I think we need to spread the word that the Herald is abrogating its responsibilities to the citizens of this county and we need to act accordingly. We need to start communicating with its advertisers. I will assemble a list later this month complete with e-mails and try to have it available before April first. Hey, money talks. Maybe we can send them a message!
In the meantime want to complain? Here are the contact e-mails:
Neal Pattison Executive Editor of the Herald: npattison@heraldnet.com
Alan Funk Publisher of the Herald: funk@heraldnet.com
Let's let them know what you think about any reporting we find in the paper that is basically a lie or biased!
