Janet Huckabee at NWU (2/8/08)

Yeah, yeah, I know this is a bit late getting up, but I've been busy.

I finally got the videos up last night of the Q&A session with Janet Huckabee when she spoke at Northwest University in Kirkland, WA on the Friday before the Washington caucuses. I would venture to guess that around 300 to 400 people showed up, all quite enthusiastic. I was able to get some pictures at the event, which are available here, as well as with all the videos from the event: Janet Huckabee @ NWU (2/8/08) (Videos are at the bottom of the post.)

If I had to describe Janet Huckabee in one word, it would be regal. Mrs. Huckabee is tall, elegant, well-poised, gracious, and kind. She was patient and gracious with every person who approached her--media, supporter, or otherwise. I actually ended up approaching her three separate times. The first time was to shake her hand as she was walking up the center aisle, crowded by supporters, cameras, and one overly perky Inside Edition reporter. I had really wanted a picture with her, but I didn't think I would get the chance as she was in somewhat of a hurry, we were told, but as she finally made her way out into the foyer, she started signing the back of people's bumper stickers, signs, and scraps of paper. After snapping some random pictures over the heads of vulturistic reporters and mumbling something about just being a blogger trying to make her way in the world, I mustered up some courage to ask her to sign my homemade HucksArmy.Com sign, which she did happily and exclaimed, "Oh! Huck's Army is great! We love them!" to which I replied that I was the Facebook Liason for HucksArmy. She seemed pleased.

Of course, I was absentminded enough to leave my camera with my friend while I had her sign my HucksArmy.Com sign, so I couldn't ask her for a picture that time, and I was still wary of asking her, as there were so many people crowded around her. Well, I was determined to get a picture with Janet, so I grabbed my camera, weasled my way through the crowd, and when there was half a breath of a moment when someone wasn't talking to her, I asked to get a picture with her, and she kindly obliged:

That was pretty much the coolest Friday I've had in a long time...
