Is Obama Just Nuts Or Is He Serious?

This was taken from the Seattle Times Friday, 2-29-08:

"In the Senate, the Democratic presidential candidate is pushing for passage of legislation that requires the U.S. government to cut global poverty in half by 2015. REQUIRES?

Now, I'm willing to believe that the Times may have a poor choice of words, but--can anyone shed any light on this?

1. I too have heard about this. I believe the bill would require that the US contribute .7% of the GDP each year for 8 years (roughly 100 million a year). This would be on top of all the other federal aid that we already give away to other countries. I will look for any links I can find on this and get them to you.
