Ahhh Bezerkeley...

Code Pink--do they ever sleep?I haven't posted on anything outside of the realm of the 2008 Presidential Elections recently, so I thought I'd just post a few thoughts about the whole U.S. Marines vs. the City of Berkeley (aka "Bezerkeley") fiasco that's going on in sunny California.

First, I keep thinking to myself...does anyone in Berkeley even have a job, or does someone pay them to protest? Apparently, Berkeleians are willing to protest just about anything under the sun (I bet you that they'd protest breathing, for all I know), so my question: How do they survive? Do Code Pinkers ever eat or sleep, or do they just yell and scream "War criminals!" and make up their own version of United States History?

You know what, I'm glad they exercise their right to protest. Free speech--that's great. But honestly, most of the time these people aren't getting anywhere except on the news, looking ridiculous.

It's this simple, Berkeley, you want to shut out the U.S. Marines, the U.S. will cut funding for your city. If you teach your children that the war is bad and that joining the military is immoral and abominable, then you shouldn't have a problem if there's a recruiting station in your city, because ideally your children wouldn't be tempted by it if you raised them in the way you think they should go.

Check out some pictures from the craziness from two days ago here (WARNING: Graphic language). You should also take a moment to watch this YouTube video--it's quite telling of Code Pink's intelligence:

1. You know, most of what you posted could be said about people protesting outside Planned Parenthood, too.

2. Unfortunately, you're probably right.

3. I'm totally for social protest. My problem with this situation is the city council becoming involved to encourage residents to pressure the recruiting office. Part of being a liberal is tolerance of others' PoV. We may not agree with the war in Iraq, we may not agree with the military in general, whatever, but it should then be a protest, not a city-wide bullying. If the city wants to be involved, they should look at things like what the laws are regarding military recruiters on campus.

6. Ahhh Bezerkeley,

The first place in America to pass a city ordinace that refuses to allow the feds to arrest poor old granny smith from using her medical marijuana, without drug task forces with military gear crashing down her front door. . .

I know you moral hard liners can't stand the thought of that.

We have to make sure Granny Smith goes out the hard way with pills that eat away her liver and kidneys.

We have to force her back to the legal drugs and make a buck for the shareholders.

Just the thing that makes the neo cons go ahhh.

Thanks Berkeley
