NYT Endorses McCain-Conservatives Chuckle

Now that the NYT has endorsed a Republican candidate, I now know whom NOT to vote for. Lacking any real conservative in this election, I just may sit out the Presidential vote and concentrate on the local offices.

1. The nomination has not yet happened. Make your voice heard. If you do not want any of the current candidates, go to the caucus and vote for delegates pledged to one that has dropped out, or who call themselves uncommitted. Or run as a delegate yourself. And vote in the primary.

If no one wins 50 percent, we have a brokered primary, where conservatives can help decide who the nominee will actually be. And it doesn't have to be one of the currently running candidates.

2. Hi pudge: I guess I'm more of a conservative than I am a Republican as I resigned my Eastside PCO when Bush announced that disgraceful immigration plan of his. Was an early financial donor to Fred! but now he's out. So...

3. I was a Fred supporter, but now I am not very happy with the options available. It looks like Romney is the only one that is close to being conservative.

A vote for McCain is no different than one for Clinton or Mr. O.

We need leadership that is going to actively reduce the size of government and it's programs.

4. I'm not sure McCain is better than than Obama, but if Hillary get the Dem's nod, then I'll vote for whoever runs against her.

5. You people need to research McCain instead of taking what the talk radio conservatives say as gospel - they are marginalizing McCain's record and are sounding like Bill Clinton. McCain dipped from an 83 to a 62 conservative rating in the last year by the ACU. Michael Medved endorses him.

He may not be as much of a conservative for judges as Guilliani or Romney, but Romney does not appear that he can beat either Clinton or Obama, while McCain is either even or ahead of them. I would feel better if Guilliani stays around and hope he exceeds the expectations in FLA. A brokered convention might be the best way to go for the Republicans and let the chips fall where they may, so if McCain gets the nod, so be it !

6. Research McCain? Sure. Let's start with his new "Hispanic Outreach Coordinator" who advocates open borders and demands a "free flow of people" across our border.
McCain is also said to have remarked that he wouldn't appoint judges as conservative as Alito.

7. "McCain is also said to have remarked that he wouldn't appoint judges as conservative as Alito."

He really said that he might not appoint a judge as conservative as Alito, and he also said that he backed the appointment of Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts all of the way. Be careful of believing what the mainstream media says without hearing it - their agenda is to write what they feel like and since that stuff is rarely if ever vetted - they have free reign and negligible accountability. Yes, the Hispanic Outreach Coordinator fellow is disturbing. Someone should confront Sen. McCain on that.

Did you read that Mitt Romney, after he said he would honor the 11th amendment, put forth by Pres. Reagan of not smearing a fellow Republican, came out with 10 cases of where McCain lost his temper ? This was on the Romney website and some of them appeared questionable - this was detailed by Drudge earlier today. Romney is a hypocrite, and will not win many popularity contests from what I have seen. Unfortunately, running for President is a popularity contest on multiple levels.

8. McCain will never win the general election. If he gets the nomination, then the conservatives will vote for the democrats or stay home - completing the destruction of the Republican party that Bush started. I'll vote for whoever the democrat is because I'd rather have the real thing than a phony Republicans like Bush, Schwartznegger, Graham, etc.

Guess it is time to start firing up "let's all stay home campaign".

9. #8 - Who is the real conservative ? Romney. Your data is faulty - Romney is weaker against Clinton or Obama than McCain. It has been shown in a number of surveys. McCain is much more of a fiscal conservative than Bush, but I'd label him as a centrist. If Republicans like you stay at home and don't vote, you will elect Hillary or Barack, who would be much worse for the economy and the war on Islamofascism, IMHO.

10. It just may be that Republicans will have to wander in the wilderness for several years until there is a real conservative at the helm. Guys like Jeff Flake, Jim DeMint, Jon Kyl and the other new guys. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I am more a Conservative than I am a Republican now. GWB made me that way.
