Huckabee heckled by Code Pink Protestors in San Francisco

nullAnd the largely obnoxious anti-war, anti-troops Code Pink is at it again. Last time I saw a video of a Code Pink heckle-fest, it was of a shrill woman taunting Secretary of State Condi Rice with fake blood on her hands. This time it's in San Francisco, and they're apparently just as obnoxious as usual.

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee was heckled by protestors during a speech in San Francisco Thursday.

Members of the anti-war group Code Pink shouted down the former Arkansas governor during an address before the Commonwealth Club. They were eventually hustled out of the Fairmont Hotel ballroom, but the affable, engaging Huckabee took note of the disruption.

"The beauty of America is that a person can come and even make a disruption, and you know what, that person is not going to be taken out and shot."

Huckabee then continued his speech about his tax plan, which was warmly received by the rest of the audience.

When asked about Governor Schwarzenegger's endorsement of John McCain, Huckabee told KCBS reporter Doug Sovern, "Nobody is inevitable until all the votes are in."

What I love about this is that Huckabee didn't merely ignore the protestors--he told them that they had a right to exercise their free speech, and that free speech is what is so beautiful about this country: you're not going to be "taken out and shot" for making a disruption at a public event.

I really appreciate Gov. Huckabee's graciousness in the situation--he was respectful and kind to a bunch of hecklers who were far from deserving of his response. That takes some patience and leadership, my friends.

1. It also means you are running for office.

But, I do find it interesting Code Pink is going after Huckabee. Why don't they do the same for the other Republicans?

2. Haha...this is true, swatter.

I'm guessing they're going after him because either a) it was convenient because of location, etc.; or b) he's more of a threat to win the nomination than either McCain or Romney.

Because McCain is probably more of what they would call a "war-monger" than Huckabee, I'm guessing that it was option a).

3. Maybe McCain spends more money on security at these rallies so his folks are more pro-active weeding them out?
