MURPHY'S LAW SMACKS US TWICE. WE'RE FIGHTING BACK!

"Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong," says Murphy's Law.
7 days ago, we were on budget and on schedule with our END the Income
Tax Ballot Petition Drive.
We showed you our progress. We told you our plans to smoothly collect
the last 31,812 signatures - and file our petitions.
"If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans," says the
proverb.
What could possibly disrupt our plans? What could go wrong?
Hurricane Noel and hardball supply and demand.
On November 3rd, Hurricane Noel pounded Massachusetts with 89 mile per
hour winds and 5 inches of torrential rains. Noel knocked down trees
and power lines - shutting off electricity to over 80,000 homes.
Hurricane Noel kept our petitioners off the streets for 2 crucial
days.
A rival petitioning effort in another state offered a half dozen of
our best petitioners big bonuses, airline tickets, and much higher pay
to leave us - and collect signatures in another state.
Capitalism 101. Hardball supply and demand.
We were left wind-blown, wet, 2 days behind, and short-handed.
We responded fast. We met with our petitioners. We negotiated with
them, raised their pay per signature, and got their agreements to
finish the job. We emailed and phoned possible petitioners in other
states - and arranged to bring in a few of them.
The bad news: the petition drive will cost us 8% more than we planned
for.
The good news: because of our early petitioning, because of our early
donors, this drive will still cost 32% LESS than prevailing petition
rates. 32% saved!
We have only 9 days left to petition.
Where do we stand right now?
We've collected 83,347 petition signatures. 67,122 in house. Another
16,225 in the pipeline. We have 83,347. 83%.
We have received $128,063. From 456 donors.
We're bringing in replacement petitioners for those who left. We have
46 paid petitioners collecting signatures right now.
Our petition turn-in deadline is Friday, November 16th. Including
today, we have only 9 days left.
We need to collect, count, validate, and pay for 16,653 more petition
signatures.
We need to raise $48,900 to pay for signatures in the pipeline - and
these last 16,653 signatures.
We've collected 83% of the signatures. With long days and hard work,
with your support, we can finish the job next Friday.
We've got 9 days.
We've paid for the signatures we've already received and counted.
We've emailed, telephoned, and mailed people who want to END the
Income Tax. Maybe you.
