Prosecutors in the Linnik murder decided not to seek the death penalty against Terapon Adhahn. This was in exchange for revealing where her body was located. So any reasonable murderer can conclude one thing.
If you do a decent job hiding the body, if caught, you can spare your life in Washington state.

Posted by: Jeff B. on July 23, 2007 11:51 PMThe prosecutor agreed to the deal in exchange for Adhahn leading them to the body. This amounts to a deal with the devil. Why should society let murderers have the upper hand like that? They already were holding Adhahn on another crime. Why couldn't they let the search continue until they found the body on their own? Then Adhahn holds no death penalty bargaining chip.
And before you bring up the inevitable family "closure" argument, families don't get to decide how justice proceeds in capital murder cases. The family isn't paying for Adhahn's incarceration for the rest of his life, the public is. While finding her body sooner may provide some temporary relief for the family, it doesn't bring Zinna back. There's no reason the search couldn't have gone on for at least another month to see if the body was found or if they could have got a confession out of Adhahn without the deal.

Posted by: chris on July 24, 2007 10:01 AMAs members of the collective body called public, the family also helps to pay for this creep to keep his worthless life alive however small the family's portion may be. That's where the injustice lies in this plea deal.
