An update from TrueSoldier (16may)

Hi everyone. Just wanted to say hi from Iraq to all of you. I am doing fine and life is pretty good and very hot. As usual the MSM is blowing everything out of proportion. I am located in the Al Anbar Province in the Sunni Triangle and I can tell you that it is not all explosions and death like they make it out to be. The Marines that I have talked to have come under fire recently, but nothing they can not handle. All in all it seems pretty good.

On another note. I discovered just moments ago that the main SP board has been blocked by OIFNET which is the internet service used here. It was blocked for "inappropriate material". I will try to contact the administrator (once I find an email address) and ask why.

Quick Update:

From what I have seen the surge is working to a point, but things are still dangerous and will be for some time. My personal feelings is that the attacks are stepping up out of desperation by the enemy to destroy what is left of Americs'a will to fight.

On another note, I finally got ahold of an admin and they are reviewing SP to see if they can unblock it.

Ragnar: I will pass the message along. I am actually a civilian contractor over here. I have been here with the military a few years ago (04-05) but was medically discharged last year due to a non-combat injury I received while in Iraq. Your words mean allot to the men and women of our armed forces and I will pass it on.

As for my liz name it is the same as here (LGF is not banned even though SP still is).

Daily Kos is still not blocked and SP still is. Just thought I would let everyone know.

Nope it is only SP that is blocked. I checked LGF no problems and also another blog that I contribute to from time to time clarkcountyconservitive.com and also no problems.

Dick Chenney did not make it up this way. We are a ways out there and he was needed to get things moving with the pols in Baghdad.

As for sending us guys anything, we would love some of your weather right about now.

3. TrueSoldier. Thanks for all you do. There are lots of technical ways to get around blocks. Let me know if you need any help. I can make it happen.

4. I was wondering why I wasn't seeing your name pop up on any of our comment threads. Do keep us up to date.
Of course there are real technical ways to get around the blocks. Like, I don't know, copying and pasting every SP entry into this comment thread:-)

5. What about other conservative blogs, like Townhall? Are they blocked, too, or only SP?

Maybe they blocked it because David Matthews wastes so much space? :-)

11. “Dear American Soldier in Iraq:

There are a few things you should know about how tens of millions of us back home feel about you and the fight you are waging. These things need to be said... What has happened is that many Americans, for all sorts of reasons—some out of simple fatigue, some because they do not believe that war solves anything, some out of deep loathing for the present administration—do not believe that what you are doing is worth doing. You know that what you are doing is worth continuing... You know that you are fighting the most vicious and primitive ideology in the world today. It is the belief that one’s God wants his followers to maim, torture and murder in order to spread a system of laws that sends societies back to a moral and intellectual state that is pre-civilization. You know that the war you wage against these people and their totalitarian ideology is also necessary because a society unwilling to fight for its values does not have values worth sustaining... We see you as the best and brightest of our society. Even The New York Times, one of the mainstream media publications that do not understand the epic battle you are waging, acknowledged in an article by one of its embedded correspondents that few Americans of your age can come close to you in maturity, wisdom or leadership abilities. It is unfortunate that the battle for moral clarity and moral courage in America is as divisive as the battle for freedom is in Iraq. But that is the nature of the world we live in. And it has ever been so... You probably knew all this. But you need to hear it anyway. That, and thank you. Thank you very much.” —Dennis Prager

12. There are some reports here lately that the surge is working; there are some reports some of the tribal chiefs are going against alQeda, but all in all, it is still the same old, same old.

John Batiste just got booted from CBS after he was a star in one of the anti-Bush TV ads put out by the disgruntled retired generals.

I would really like to get hold of where these guys got their stars. Seems to me they got them during Clinton-Kerry time- 1992 and on.
