We need to support these guys!
by RagnarDanneskold, 10:38 AM, 2 Comments
Robert Bluey over at Townhall.com has an interesting piece today about 2 fellows trying to level the internet playing field in regards to influencing the media and Keeping Democrats Accountable " Longtime congressional staffers Michael Brady and Michael Giuliani are fed up with reporters who cover Congress. Frustrated by their failure to investigate stories and tired of the liberal bias, Brady and Giuliani have vowed to make it right -- by becoming investigative journalists themselves. The pair doesn't have the... [read more]

Charlie Chong, 1926-2007
by BerenForCongress, 03:47 PM, 0 Comments
I was very saddened to learn just now that former Seattle City Councilman Charlie Chong has passed away. It was only a couple of months ago that he talked with me for three hours one night at a West Seattle coffee shop. Some people had urged me to run for City Council this year, and I was considering whether or not to do so, seeking the opinion of Charlie and others I respected. He was generous with his time and... KVI, Thurston's Corrupt Courts and You
by Andy_Maris, 09:18 PM, 1 Comments
Let me extrapolate on what I said in the comment thread about Wickham and KVI. I've followed Wickham since 2003- suffice to say that his decisions aligning with actual law are purely a coincidence. His ruling against KVI reflects the norm, not the exception. Locally, the Zero (The Olympian) endorsed Wickham heavily in his election; printed endorsements 3:1 over those for other candidates. Many know he's as crooked as they come and has no business sitting on the bench and... [read more]

An upate
by TrueSoldier, 10:37 AM, 8 Comments
This is just a quick update about what is going on with me, TrueSoldier. First I want to thank everyone for their messages about my working in Iraq. It means allot to me. I have just about finished all my training, medical screenings and the likes here in Houston. I should be flying out for Iraq during the weekend. I have found out that I will be working on a camp to the west of Fallujah and south of Haditha.... [read more]

Ballot tracking serial numbers; end of secret ballot?
by ccwt, 01:48 AM, 1 Comments
I have not confirmed this allegation; the sponsor's web site is out of date ... +++++++++++++++++ --- Jason Aaron Osgood, zappini [a*t] gmail.com wrote: PROTECT OUR SECRET BALLOT King County plans to adopt mail ballot tracking. This is more than envelope tracking. It adds a unique barcode to each ballot that is linked to the voter's id. This eliminates the secret ballot, taking away all voter privacy. Unique barcodes on ballots are unconstitutional, illegal, and bad policy. Tuesday May 1,... [read more]

Darcy Burner's views on the local school system
by ameslaker, 06:42 PM, 2 Comments
By popular demand, albeit from 2 people, here are the email musings from Darcy Burner and several of her neighbors concerning a recent failed school levy. Caveat#1: This poster does not have any school aged children, and therefore has no opinion as to who is right or wrong in the following exchanges concerning the quality/or lack there of, of the SVSD. That being said, I would, however have investigated the quality of the local school system and impact on resale... [read more]

Foxes and Orioles
by RagnarDanneskold, 10:13 AM, 0 Comments
An Open Letter Dear Orioles, For those who still fight actively against suffocation by political correctness, I recommend the following little story. James Thurber, a humorist as well as the author of the piece, is classified in many Introduction to American Literature classes as a "dead white male"; since, along with others, he is often condemned for that fact, his writing goes largely un-read these days. If you have never been exposed to his work, here's a modest example, taken... [read more]

Wonderfully Stifled Seattle
by SteveLondon, 10:09 PM, 3 Comments
I just had a very interesting conversation with my liberal thinking son who grew up in Seattle, graduated from Roosevelt High School then attended SUNY Purchase, the very liberal New York college, and who now lives in Brooklyn, the bastion of America's liberal writers and thinkers. He told me that in NY he feels free but in Seattle he had constant reminders of how to conform, he felt a stifling of his personal freedom. All for the public's good of... [read more]

WSU Police Chief demoted for these videos?
by Cougster1, 12:21 PM, 1 Comments
WSU Police Chief Steve Hansen was demoted ("resigned") early this month to lieutenant because of looking at inappropriate things at work (and maybe other reasons?). The university put out a report on this found here. WSU Today on Hansen's actions: The announcement comes at the conclusion of a WSU internal auditor's investigation into a complaint of improper computer use in the police department. According to the auditor's report, Hansen viewed e-mails that were sent to him containing inappropriate material, forwarded... [read more]

by mikejohnson752, 09:01 PM, 4 Comments
Half of the citizens of King County Fire District 40 have petitioned to become part of the City of Renton. This area includes the Cascade and Benson Hill areas. KCFD 40, has two fire stations. One is being rebuilt and will house their headquarters. It is within this annexation area. The other is in the Fairwood area. It is 35 years old and needs rebuilding. The Revolution will, in fact, be televised
by DougParris, 01:34 PM, 4 Comments
The most significant political issue for the next two years is the open invasion of our nation by foreign criminals. Reagan Wing leader Tracy Oetting frequently sends out email with the following quotation: "A notorious Latino street gang, which refers to itself as MS-13, is being recruited by al Qaeda for help. This gang is based in Mexico and Los Angeles and is helping the terrorist group penetrate our borders. There are more than three thousand MS-13 gang members in... [read more]

VT Shooting (over)reactions
by guitarplayr, 11:51 PM, 3 Comments
The killing of innocents always brings out the conflicting feelings in me.  I feel rage at the evil that was done and helplessness at not being able to do anything as the horrific drama unfolds. I feel sorrow for the families of the victims, horror at the suffering the victims themselves must have suffered,  and pity for the unmentioned victims, the family of the shooter, for they are victims also in that they well bear his stigma in his coward's death. But... [read more]

The Department of Peace and Nonviolence
by TrueSoldier, 11:57 AM, 2 Comments
Here is a link to a bill the house democrats are trying to pass to create this cabinet level position. It is sponsored by the usually left wing suspects to include our very own Baghdad Jim. These are just a few of the things this bill would do and you really must read the whole bill to see just how bad this is. Mission- The Department shall-- (2) endeavor to promote justice and democratic principles to expand human rights; (3)... [read more]

The Evolution of Math in the United States...Thank you POLITICAL CORRECTNESS and public school UNION thugs
by RagnarDanneskold, 11:51 AM, 3 Comments
Last week I purchased a burger and fries at McDonalds for $3.58. The counter girl took my $4.00 and I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies. Watching her looking at the screen on her register, I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her,... [read more]

Bar Stool Economics
by TrueSoldier, 09:25 AM, 7 Comments
Here is one that a friend of mine emailed me and I thought that it would be great to share it. Bar Stool Economics Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The... Interesting information on social security reform
by TrueSoldier, 08:45 AM, 1 Comments
Yesterday I was talking to am off duty police officer from Federal Way. We started talking about retirement plans and he told me that some state and county workers, to include Federal Way PD, is exempt from social security payroll taxes due to the pension plans that are in place. I find this very interesting seeing that the liberals are always against privatizing social security, yet these same liberals have decided that it would be better for the local or... [read more]

UPDATE: If you missed McCain's VMI speech, you can read his remarks here. Political Discourse has not failed
by pagar, 11:15 AM, 1 Comments
I believe the thread that caused me to start this blog entry has died as most of the threads we see, do after various periods of time, and that the subject is too important to all Americans. Background----- On 3 Apr 2007, Jim Miller wrote a thread titled "Guerillas Usually Lose" on the main Sound Politics Menu. On 4 Apr 2007, I responsed to comment #40 in comment #47 by stating; 47. "40. SB5103 - Seatbelts on School Buses
by SCarnahan, 04:32 PM, 1 Comments
SB5103 is destined to increase the cost of transporting children to the point that fewer students are transported on the safest form of transportation available. The bill is counter-productive and short sighted. Putting more children at risk of accident should not be the purpose of our elected representatives. SB5103 is poorly researched, poorly drafted and will not make our children on yellow school buses safer. [read more]

How low can Tacoma go?
by TrueSoldier, 11:42 AM, 2 Comments
The Seattle PI is reporting today that Tacoma PD is asking that the port of Tacoma and the Military pick up some of the $500,000 bill for the extra security at the port of Tacoma during the anti-war protest of the deploying Stryker Brigade. Anti-war protests cost Tacoma $500,000 TACOMA -- Tacoma police say last month's 12-day anti-war protests cost the city an unbudgeted $500,000 to provide a large-scale law enforcement presence. The rough estimate covers overtime, regular compensation, equipment... [read more]
