The PI

I've been an occasional participant at the PI Sound-offs. Every now and then there is a subject or opinion that just needs a response. I never really paid attention to their website until my son directed me there to read some of his arguements. I do not subscribe to the PI, nor do I subscribe to the Times or any other newspaper.

When my adult son posted, he was respectful but often used sarcasm and wild examples to hammer his point to those who refused to consider any different point of view. He argued vociferously on subjects from abortion to the viaduct.

He was banned.

When he emailed them to ask why, they ignored him. When he emailed to point out to them that those who perpetrated vicious verbal attacks toward him because they disagreed with him were not banned, they ignored his emails.

Yesterday the subject was the illegals caught at a local bakery. I remarked on the 'knee jerkers and bleeding hearts". The insults hurled at those of us who inconveniently believe in the rule of law included but were not limited to "racist" (of course) "Nazi" (of course) "rotting heart" "you should be ashamed to call yourself an American!" 'ignorant' hater and on and on and on.

The subject today was special dining nights for families with children so that those without won't be subject to the noisy messy little darlings.

I pointed out that I agreed that restaurant owners had the right to cater to whatever particular clientele they hoped to attract... and then pointed out the hypocrisy of those that won't allow owners to make that same decision regarding smokers.

The other thread I commented on was in regards to Scooter Libby. I wondered why the lefties weren't satisfied with the pound of flesh they exacted.

I used no foul words.
I insulted no one.
I never even responded to any particular comment.

Today I was banned.

It comes as no surprise that the PI does not allow dissent.

It comes as no surprise that the PI has a narrow, particular agenda.

It comes as no surprise that the PI can, will and does use thug tactics to advance that agenda.

It comes as no surprise that the PI has separate rules for those that disagree with their agenda . One might even liken it to the ugly segregationist actions of the old South, where the "second class citizens" were forced to the back of the bus, or as in the case of the PI, off the bus entirely.

It comes as no surprise that the PI coddles and encourages (by allowing) insults from those who share their agenda.

It comes as no surprise that the PI is a failing representative of what was once an honorable profession.

I would suggest that the PI would thrive under the equally dissent stifling thumbs of Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro and Kim Jong Il.

1. Funny, I had the same thing happen over at the Times with Postman. I pointed out the hypocrisy of continuing to support Democrats in positions of power Seattle when trying to address the open air drug markets that exist directly across from City Hall. The Democrats having been in control of Seattle and King County for decades and nothing has improved. That apparently didn't sit well with the Commissar of the Information Mr. Postman. Banned in Belltown.

2. Ahh, the PI. My old stomping grounds, where I would beat the intellectual shit out of the brainless morons of Seattle on a DAILY BASIS.

And I mean ALL of them. Ragnar will tell you - I used to call her up, telling her which threads to go read where it was literally me against EVERY SINGLE OTHER PERSON. And I don't think I ever lost a single fight. Of course, it's hard to say that with pride since they were basically a room full of retarded chimpanzees with internet access, but oh how I delighted in verbally thrashing them on various subjects. I used to laugh and laugh as they would sit there, infuriated, hurling insult after insult at me - usually making wild presumptions about my religious beliefs, my political party affiliation, my sexual orientation (ps, did you know that if you say anything contrary to that of a homosexual, it means you're secretly hiding the fact that you're gay?), my age and lifestyle. It was great.

I think the single best part was that they were so utterly Pavlovian. With pinpoint accuracy, I could tell you how any one of those chumps was going to weigh in on any given subject. It was just the matter is ringing the right bell and getting them to salviate - after that it was cake - just walk 'em headfirst into a wall by using their own idiotic beliefs against them.

Sigh. Memories...

Gotta love the PI though huh? Such a bastion of free expression and the exchange of ideas and information. As long as you stay loyal to the Party, of course.

3. This is why I have next to nothing to do with the PI. They would have to pay ME to take it.

4. Doesn't it just make you wonder what their acceptable loss threshold is?

Again, it shows they are more interested in promoting their own personal ideology than in running a profitable, sustainable business.

5. It may (or may not) surprise you to learn that the same thing happened to me over here in Spokane with our local rag, the Spokeswoman-Review (or "Spokesman-Review", as it likes to style itself). I have been banned since I reminded readers that the S/R's editorial comment on the accidental death of Sonny Bono some years ago was entitled "One Less Pig At The Trough", and consisted of little more than a foul diatribe against the male sex -- which is pretty much the sum total of the S/R's M.O.

However, I was NOT banned from "NPR Frontline"'s website dealing with their expose of the S/R's mean-spirited vendetta against the pathetic, cancer-ravaged Jim West. I had the satisfaction of being able to post freely about that sorry episode of entrapment and yellow journalism -- to a national readership. Neeless to say, I am now even banned from the Sports blogs of the S/R...

Nazis. All of them.

6. The Puke-Instigator deleted the Sound-Off on the MLK logo for King County. Too much lack of "consensus".
