State DOC resumes early felon releases with the Queens blessing
The Seattle Times is reporting that Queen Christine has decided that she is OK with releasing felons early. In an internal memo e-mailed agencywide Friday, DOC Deputy Secretary Mary Leftridge Byrd said conditional releases are acceptable as long as they're not being done to avoid jail overcrowding. It turns out that the three Democrats that voted for bill HB 2377 have had a John Kerry moment. Deborah Eddy (48th district), Deb Wallace (17th district) and Kathy Haigh (35th district) all entered vote correction form yesterday stating that they actually meant to vote "nay" on this bill.
