Tick, Tick, Tick...
Debunking the Distortions, Fallacies, and Lies about Illegal Immigration
By Jefferson Paine
Myth #1: The massive horde of illegal aliens already residing in America will never leave of their own accord.
Common Sense: If the *Fair Immigration Plan is implemented, they'll want to leave (Read it below, at bottom). This multi-pronged plan provides the fair incentives, on several fronts, needed to make the foreign homelands more attractive places for illegal aliens than continuing to break the laws of the United States of America. In addition to sealing the U.S. border, enforcing new and existing immigration laws such as prosecuting businesses who employ illegals and terminating all government benefits to illegals, the Fair Immigration Plan will require any illegal alien who wishes to live and work within the U.S. to satisfy ALL of the following conditions:
1) They must register with U.S. authorities and subsequently leave U.S. territory within a 2-year time limit
2) They must apply for "guest" immigrant status from outside of U.S. territory
3) They must have lived outside of the U.S. for at least 2 years before applying
4) They must have never been previously deported
5) They must have never been convicted of a felony
6) They must pay a fine of $15,000 US if having previously violated U.S. immigration law
7) There must be room under the current U.S. immigration quota - with non-illegals receiving first priority
8) Any illegal alien found within the U.S. after 2 years without proof of valid guest status will be immediately deported and will permanently forfeit any future re-entry
For those who believe it's nigh impossible for illegal aliens to find their way back home from whence they came: If supposedly oppressed and indigent aliens successfully broke into our country by way of crossing a vast, hostile desert, then the rich benefits and the fat they've accumulated while illegally residing here shall assure their safe passage back across that same desolate expanse.
Those illegal aliens who fail to realize the advantages of extricating themselves from U.S. territory, afforded them by the Fair Immigration Plan, will have all of their assets seized and sold, and while detained they will be required to work for any difference required to pay a sizable fine, pay all costs associated with their detention and deportation, and then they will be summarily assisted to the nearest border by U.S. authorities and forever barred from future re-entry into America's sovereign territory.
Myth #2: We must offer illegal aliens immediate amnesty because we're never going to be able to round them all up and deport them.
Common Sense: The rationale in this statement is simply absurd on many levels. This myth presents a ridiculous false choice asserting that since it is impossible to instantaneously identify, apprehend, and deport untold millions of illegal aliens who have broken into our great country, that we must succumb to the only inevitable solution to the problem - mass amnesty!
Rewarding the 15 million+ throng of illegal aliens with a thinly-veiled amnesty will, not only, NOT solve a thing - it will only make the problems much worse by explicitly communicating to every foreigner that breaking into the U.S. will eventually gain them the prize which they refused to obtain legally in the first place (and did nothing to honestly "earn" in the second).
Myth #3: Allowing illegal aliens to "earn" their way to citizenship, while remaining in this country, is not amnesty.
Common Sense: Anytime someone is rewarded for their lawbreaking by allowing them to keep what they have stolen while, at the same time, they are allowed to "apply" to have their crimes exonerated and the prize they stole actually gifted to them - without cost - it is rightly called AMNESTY. It should also be called national suicide.
Also, for those who need clarification, anyone who is keeping stolen loot while they are applying to keep the loot, without punishment, is never "earning" it.
Myth #4: Deporting illegal aliens will destroy the U.S. economy.
Common Sense: Businesses that claim they cannot exist without breaking the law don't deserve to exist. Businesses that follow our laws and want to thrive must do what all successful, law-abiding businesses do - they innovate, produce more efficiently, pay competitive wages, and adjust their prices, costs and strategies in accordance with operating legally within a competitive marketplace. Those who unapologetically cry they can't comply, and must break the law in order flourish have a name: "Crooks".
Pro-illegal immigration demagogues who claim that deporting illegal immigrants and requiring employers to obey our laws will somehow "destroy" our national economy need to take a bevy of remedial courses in basic ethics, logic, and economics.
Myth #5: Illegal aliens have to break into the U.S. because they have no choice if they want to survive, and feed their families.
Common Sense: If Mexican nationals were truly starving in Mexico, how then did they manage to survive whatever number of years it took until vigorously breaking into our sovereign country? If they truly can't "feed their children", then why are they procreating? If they are so threatened, then why don't they fix their own sorry, third-world country? If Mexican illegal immigrants are on death's doorstep, thus necessitating the violation of our national borders in order to survive, how do they so easily infiltrate our country across the vast and dangerously inhospitable desert?
Can anyone point out these allegedly emaciated masses of illegal immigrants? Where?
Myth #6: Illegal aliens only want to work lawfully and peacefully within the U.S.
Common Sense: If this were true, then why are half the prisoners in California made up of foreigners? If this were true, then why does one-fifth of the federal prison population consist of aliens? If this myth were true, then why do they need to break the law by infiltrating our national borders to begin with? If this were true, then why were the L.A. demonstrations promoting illegal immigration filled with Mexican flags, and all manner of placards overtly calling for the repatriation by force of a mythical Mexican nation consisting of the whole of southern U.S. territory as their own?
If this myth were true, then why do illegal aliens so consistently lie by forging every possible U.S. document, and subverting every U.S. civil institution possible in order to pose as "law-abiding" citizens in order to steal their benefits?
Myth #7: Illegal aliens lawfully pay taxes just like everyone else in this country.
Common Sense: Poppy-cock. The vast majority of illegal aliens get paid "under-the-table" - which is simply a not-so-veiled euphemism for tax evasion. The dirty little secret here is that this allows employers to willfully exploit the arrangement, too, so that they can evade their own taxes. It gets even dirtier, though, because both Liberals and Neo-Cons alike look the other way, while proffering their phony immigration enforcement, because of their addiction to the illegal votes by illegal aliens, further entrenching their power by lavishing illegal aliens with the wealth seized from law-abiding Citizens, and stealthily paying-off their wealthy donors and political benefactors by exploiting the cheap, illegal labor - again, at the expense of depriving jobs and depressing the wages of law-abiding Citizens.
But, the dirtiest little secret of all is that Congress has somehow successfully hoodwinked the common American Citizen into believing that this ongoing treasonous scheme is actually necessary to improve America - nay, even to protect Americans - at their own peril and expense!
Myth #8: Illegal aliens are only working in jobs that American citizens won't do.
Common Sense: American citizens want, and deserve, to compete in a labor marketplace which pays them fairly for the full value of the work they perform, and such pay which also accounts for abiding by all of our laws. The current policy of encouraging untold millions of illegal aliens to infiltrate our country, and its job markets, is nothing short of importing poverty onto American soil. Unmistakably, this forces those American citizens at the lowest end of the pay scale, those who also happen to most likely be our most vulnerable Citizens, to choose to impoverish themselves in order to compete with unlimited cheap illegal laborers, or to turn to other illicit means of extracting what they desire from society (i.e. turning to crime or self-abuse for their personal solutions).
Make no mistake about it, our politicians and employers who have made themselves dependent upon the labor of illegal aliens have effectively surrendered U.S. sovereignty in order to swell their own personal coffers and entrench their political power not only at the expense of American national security, but also explicitly at the expense of not paying the American worker their fair wages - precisely because of their ever-growing sickness of seizing more of the Citizen's hard-earned wealth with which to reward the invaders.
Myth #9: We'll have to accept paying prices like $25 for a hamburger and $8 for a head of lettuce if we stop allowing illegal immigration.
Common Sense: Nonsense. Shutting off the supplies of illegal laborers and finally bringing full tax compliance will not only force employees and employers to pay their legal share of the tax burden, but will also cause employers to have to fairly raise their wages commensurate with a free and competitive legal marketplace. This benefits all Americans by supporting national security, eliminating rampant tax evasion, and restores the fair wages of many low-skill workers. These benefits do come at a cost, but which the scofflaws of course have been skirting, which will inevitably put pressure on some to raise their illegally-dependent prices somewhat - and rightly so. This is the cost that we pay to fully comply with our laws. This, however, will only increase the costs of goods and services which have been dependent on illegal labor, resulting in quite modest price increases in most cases. Case in point: let's say the price of a $4.00 hamburger were to increase in price to $4.35 when a fully law-compliant marketplace reaches its new competitive equilibrium; the new price of the hamburger does not reflect some outrageous new cost, but rather the old price of $4.00 was the egregious price set artificially low via illegal labor thus unfairly under-compensating the law-abiding American worker. In other words, the lower price reflected the dependence upon illegality, and was subsidizing the importation of poverty into America (and worse) by those criminals who simply wanted to exploit it to their personal enrichment - national security, fair wages, and the Rule of Law be damned.
The doomsday pricing scare-tactics by the pro-illegal, economically-illiterate forces are simply absurd - not to mention reprehensible.
Myth #10: Illegal immigration just makes America a better place, and anyone opposed to this must be a racist.
Common Sense: How is America made better by lax border security allowing unknown hordes of illegal aliens (not to mention weapons, drugs, terrorists, diseases...) to invade our country, take jobs and depress wages, crowd our jails, and vacuum up every welfare benefit known to man - including free and subsidized educations, free and subsidized health care, and in many cases the freedom to vote illegally to perpetuate this corrupt and shameful game. But hardly anyone ever mentions the ominous, most dangerous aspect of illegal immigration - the threat to a cohesive American civilization. The massive illegal importation of untold millions of foreign nationals who not only don't want to assimilate within American culture, are now flagrantly asserting their demands for special rights as a separate nation living within our nation. This will most likely have disastrous consequences for our children's posterity. History has taught us since time immemorial that nations who fail to act when aggressive nations infiltrate their borders by force and agitate for the host to accommodate insatiable demands are usually headed for a bloody cataclysm. This is not hyperbole - study our own history with the Native American nations, look at the African peoples formerly enslaved, look at the Balkans, look at the vicious factions fighting in Iraq, and look at murderous Muslims rioting in France today. Does anyone believe that our corrupt politicians in Washington will somehow peacefully talk their way out of this impending disaster, while outrageously continuing their grievance-group shell-games, and simultaneously leaving our national borders as utterly porous as they can get away with?
The greatest thing about America is not that it was a nation founded on any common ethnic, religious, or geographic identity. But, rather, what made America so unique and ultimately so successful, was that is was founded upon a set of ideals, as prescribed within our founding documents and laws, and incubated by our marvelously rich cultural and spiritual tapestry - which consists to this day as the sum total of all of the assimilated peoples who have forged this nation, but who were drawn to and support our common ideals with allegiance. However, importing a huge, metastasizing and hostile nation within, who not only have no intention to assimilate but demand that the host it has invaded continues to feed its growing appetites, is not only antithetical to America, but presents an ever-worsening danger to its long-term survival.
The claim of racism slung at those who revile illegal immigration is just one more leftist smear, lamely attempting to divert our attention from the braying elephant in the living room. For the record, "Mexican" is not a "race"; a Mexican person is a foreign national originating from the nation of Mexico - which has established a huge and growing colony within America.
Myth #11: Construction of a barrier along our borders will never work, besides, it projects a terrible image.
Common Sense: If America could put men on the surface of the moon in 1969, if we could unleash the power of the atom in 1945, and if the Wright brothers could soar through thin air over a century ago, then we can build an impenetrable barrier along our entire border with ease. If we can spend many $billions weekly building infrastructure and attempting (in vain) to secure peace and freedom for foreign nations overseas in the Middle East, then we can surely secure our own borders. We all know there is no technological or economic impediment preventing its construction; it is strictly a matter of political will if we are to safeguard our nation from impending disaster.
Those who make the absurd comparison to the Soviet Union's Iron Curtain are attempting a lame obfuscation, upon those who are susceptible to moral confusion, by pretending not to recognize the moral opposites of a barrier built with the purpose of keeping its citizens captive, versus a barrier designed to keep dangers out. Is China embarrassed by its Great Wall? Who among us is uncomfortable with walls and razor-wire surrounding penitentiaries? Do you have locks on the doors to your home?
Are leftists ashamed of the fences and walls surrounding their own estates and of locking their own doors at night? Imagine if droves of insurgents suddenly claimed the need to "peacefully" break into Liberals' homes at night claiming the right to "work" as they pleased, as they helped themselves to the homeowner's refrigerator contents - not to mention his wallet's contents - just for starters?
Myth #12: Mexico and other belligerent countries are just vibrant, peace-loving global neighbors who desire nothing but the best for America.
Common Sense: The truth is the nation of Mexico, contrary to the popular mirage that it is a healthy democracy, is beholden to a very corrupt political system of graft and patronage, and makes sure that the vast majority of its population is kept oppressed in a permanent impoverished state. The Mexican government also actively subverts U.S. sovereignty and interests, especially as related to immigration and border control. What kind of country actively endeavors to make its own citizens ripe for exporting via illegal immigration trafficking? Perhaps it's because Mexico annually drains tens of $Billions in U.S. dollars from the remora planted within the belly of her northern host - thus, surpassing every national product they produce, accounting for more income than even their petroleum or tourism industries generate.
It's high time for American Citizen's to get real; Mexico is no peace-loving neighbor - it's perpetrating an Act of War against the United States of America - implanting a bomb within our society more devastating than any nuclear weapon, with its long-ticking demographic-timed fuse.
*Fair Immigration Plan for Defusing the Illegal Immigration Time Bomb
1) Secure All U.S. Borders and Ports
a. Build an impenetrable barrier along our entire border with Canada and Mexico.
b. Vastly increase the numbers of border personnel until achieving a very high level of security effectiveness
c. Deploy military detachments in sizes necessary to assure border patrol, in the absence of sufficient numbers of trained personnel, and in those cases where state governors refuse to deploy their National Guard units to guard our nation.
d. Increase funding for the U.S. Coast Guard and for air and naval port security until a very high level of effectiveness is achieved
e. Develop an infallible biometric-based ID required for all persons within the U.S. - all Citizens and all "guests" - e.g. workers, students, tourists, diplomats, etc.
f. Cease the shaking down of innocent, law-abiding U.S. citizens at U.S. ports; redeploy these resources to the scanning of cargo shipping and the profiling of likely individual perpetrators
2) Enforce Existing U.S. Immigration Laws
a. Impeach or terminate those sworn U.S. agents, judges, politicians, and accomplices who refuse to enforce existing immigration-related laws
b. Desist from electing, re-electing, deputizing, or appointing those sworn U.S. agents, judges, politicians, and accomplices who refuse to enforce existing immigration-related laws
c. Expose, and alert to the American people, through any medium possible, all those sworn U.S. agents, judges, politicians, and accomplices who refuse to enforce existing immigration-related laws
d. Confront and shame, through any medium possible, all those sworn U.S. agents, judges, politicians, and accomplices who refuse to enforce existing immigration-related laws
3) Strengthen U.S. Immigration Laws
a. Outlaw and criminally prosecute any employer aiding, abetting, or harboring any illegal alien by illegal employment or contract. This would not consist merely of fines, the cost of which would merely be transferred to consumers with higher prices, but includes employer imprisonment and the seizure of company assets.
b. Criminalize any person or who aids, abets, or harbors illegal human trafficking within and across the U.S. national borders
c. Prohibit any government agency from conferring or dispensing any payment, service, license, or voting right to any illegal alien
d. Immediately deport any alien individual, illegal or guest, who has committed a felony within the U.S. or abroad, and subsequently ban them permanently from future U.S. citizenship or entry
e. Pass a Constitutional Amendment which, prospectively and retrospectively, permanently revokes and prohibits any progeny of any alien from retaining or attaining the status of U.S. citizenship except by normal and fully-legal application process
f. Institute the following Fair Immigration Plan for all aliens:
i. All aliens are required to report within one year to their nearest federal office and register as an alien, having their biometric information recorded, and official Alien ID issued
ii. All registered illegal aliens will subsequently have one year's time to remove themselves from U.S. territory
iii. Any illegal alien found after one year's time who has not registered will be immediately deported and barred permanently from any future entry into U.S. territories
iv. Any registered illegal alien found one year's time after registering who has not left U.S. soil will be immediately deported and barred permanently from any future entry into U.S. territories
v. Aliens can apply for immigrant "guest" status to temporarily work, travel, or reside within U.S. territory, and may retire their illegal status, provided they meet ALL of the following conditions:
1. They have not been previously deported
2. They currently reside outside of U.S. territory
3. They have resided outside of the U.S. for a minimum of 2 years, or since time of last exit from U.S. territory
4. They pay a fine of $15,000 US if of illegal status
5. Provided there is room under current guest status quota limitations - and provided all non-illegals receive first priority
vi. Aliens may apply for U.S. citizenship provided they meet ALL of the following conditions:
1. They have not been previously deported
2. They have no history of illegal activity, or any activity deemed harmful to U.S. sovereignty or interests
3. They pledge to work peacefully within the U.S. and to assimilate within our society
4. They have resided legally within the U.S. for at least five years and have committed no felonies and are not of illegal status
5. They pass a rigorous test of fluency in the English language
6. They pass a rigorous test of knowledge of U.S. history, government and civics
7. They have at least two non-related, native U.S. citizens vouch for the fidelity of their personal character
8. They swear and profess exclusive allegiance to the U.S. and to obeying its laws and sovereignty, and agree to be subject to immediate deportation if any of these provisions are violated, or found to be less than fully truthful
g. Pass a Constitutional Amendment declaring that all enumerated rights and privileges emanating from the U.S. Constitution are reserved and guaranteed expressly for U.S. Citizens - and may be revoked, modified or applied judiciously for foreigners pursuant to U.S. immigration laws
h. Pass a Constitutional Amendment stipulating that Congress must set an annual immigration status quota for foreigners (non-citizens of all types) authorized to enter the U.S.; such quota shall cap the absolute number of foreign aliens allowed entry not to be exceeded, and that such quota shall never exceed 0.1% of the number of the total current population of U.S. Citizens per annum
4) Honor and Respect U.S. Territorial and Citizen's Sovereignty
a. Consider it a clear Act of War when the actions or policies of foreign nations aid, abet, or are derelict in preventing their citizens from violating U.S. borders or its sovereign interests
b. Cut-off all foreign aid, grants, and other assistance when the actions or policies of foreign nations aid, abet, or are derelict in preventing their citizens from violating U.S. borders or its sovereign interests
c. Those U.S. state and local officials (elected or appointed) who refuse to notify and assist federal authorities with regard to illegal immigration and immigrant status, will be subject to severe federal prosecution and subsequent punishment
I have another thing to add to either the myth that the plan would ruin the economy and illegals are neccessary to do jobs that americans will not do. All one must do to see the falsehood of these myths is to look back at our country during the lead up to the civil war. These sam arguments were made about slavery and you know what happened? The cotton gin was invented creating an effective way for a machine to pick the crop faster and more efficient than any person could do.
Posted by: TrueSoldier on January 1, 2007 05:57 PMThat's a police state, you assclown, just like apartheid South Africa used to have. None of that is the law now, and you know it.
Patriotic, freedom-loving Americans spit in your face, and that's not just "leftists." Fortunately, it's just your authoritarian wet dream, and this country won't ever permit it.
Posted by: ivan on January 1, 2007 11:20 PMAre you yourself an illegal alien? – or an offspring of one? Are you a U.S. Citizen?
What’s so unpatriotic about enforcing our laws and securing our nation’s borders? Do you believe in breaking the law – which ones don’t apply to you?
Which wars, again, did we Americans engage in order to guarantee illegality for foreign insurgents? I guess historians somehow missed those ones..
What’s wrong with an infallible national ID? Do you think the swiss-cheese system of phony driver’s licenses, stolen social security cards, and raging identity theft is working pretty well (for your ilk)?
What’s wrong with intelligent profiling of those individuals who are most likely to infiltrate our country and cause harm to our Citizens? Which one of the following would you profile given limited resources and the desire to maximize your chances of heading off acts of terrorism:
1) A U.S. Citizen, and 73 year-old grandmother of Swedish descent, who attempts to peacefully enter a U.S. airport facility armed with knitting needles and carrying a water bottle containing WATER?, or
2) A young male from a foreign nation which incubates masses of Islamic fundamentalists who pays cash for a one-way ticket, and carries ‘immigration’ papers stating Disneyland as his residential address?
Answer from Leftists: Both should be shaken-down “equally” so as not to appear as a racist! (all the while wasting colossal amounts of resources on individuals who have ZERO chance of being a terrorist..)
Ivan, if our military is not authorized to protect our country – then what is it for? Do you not see the hidden mission in the term National Guard? Throwing around such erudite terms as ‘assclown’ really makes you seem a little angry – perhaps a little irrational.
