"Republicans" on the ballot?

Remember those good old days when "Republicans" ran for elected office?

I remember those days, back in September 2006, the primary ballot was full of them. Including myself, as a GOP PCO candidate.

But ever since then it's become really hard to identify the "Republican" candidates for the General election, at least for the Federal offices.

Mike McGavick now describes himself as Independent.

Dave Reichert is uber-Independent.

Since brand marketing is a "use it or lose it" process, I guess the time has come to dissolve the "Republican" Party in Washington State.

That's the best conclusion I can extract from the marketing I'm seeing - the "Republican" brand is no longer useful.

So I guess I'll be voting to dissolve the "Republican" Party at the next Central Committee meeting - there's no reason to have a bloated Party structure that candidates flee from, to become Independents.

1. One of the best post on Sound Politics ever - ccwt. If your brand doesn't stand for something, then it is worthless.

2. Nonsense! It's just that, recognizing that we need to move to the middle to appeal to the uncommitted voter, we have decided to cleverly disguise ourselves as a third party. Check out The Secret Strategy

3. The Republican party in this state has candidates on the ballot. They may not be as far right as you desire.

If you are so angry with the republicans that you are going to vote democrat this election cycle or you are going to sit out then you deserve people like Darcy Burner and Maria Cantwell to represent you and proceed to screw you and this country at every opportunity.

The Republican candidates are the best we have running right now, your vote is for who is running not for who you wished would run.

My vote is for serious candidates that want to protect our country. Burner and Cantwell don't measure up.

John if you are viable candidate, why don't you run for office next time instead of stomping your feet and saying you hope the republicans lose.

4. Hi skeptic,

I have no problem with candidates being more liberal then me. However, I don't think who to vote for is entirely a liberal / conservative thing.

The number one thing I'm ticked off about is Republican incompetence. From the War in Iraq, to the mess on the border, to the response to Katrina, to the nomination of Harriet Meirs, to putting our soldiers and border guards on trial for doing their job, to the screw up in S. Lebanon, to the massive spending, to the inability of the President to speak English: the current batch of Republicans are incompetent.

Dave Reichert is a good example of Republican incompetence. For example, he could not catch the USA's biggest mass murderer for two decades, he then supported letting the guy off, yet he is petty enough to get a lady fired for flipping him off, and supported death by dehydration for Terri Schiavo. Are these positions liberal, conservative, or just examples of incompetent? I think both liberals and conservatives want mass murderers off the streets, I think both want a good federal response to natural disasters and a balanced budget.

Burner has not demonstrated the incompetence that David Reichert has.
