And So It Begins...

Ed Rogers, deputy manager of the 1988 presidential campaign of George H.W. Bush, has a column out in WaPo titled, "The Election Is Over. Let the Election Begin." Obviously he is giving an early round-up of the GOP front runners, but he has some great observations on the challenges face by the Democrats, as well.

Meanwhile, Bill Curry bloviates in the Hartford Courant on why the Democrats won last week, and how they can sustain their majorities in the run up to '08. One interesting note to take away from his article (which pretty much reads like a vanity, or advice column for the donks) is that "civility" will become a theme in Washington, D.C. Hmmm. Sound familiar? It should, because it's the main theme Mike McGavick used to run, and lose, against Maria Cantwell.

I think "civility" is a noble cause, but one that isn't very attractive to voters who are actually used to the "Nightmare on Elm street" politics that Curry decries. And with everything I've heard from the netroots over the past few months, something tells me we're heading for anything but civility in the build-up for control of the Presidency, and Congress.
