Read the story and weep.
The part of the story that really ticked me off was Pam's concern for her carpet. You'd think that a mother who wanted her kid out of prison would be bending over backwards for the police inspectors to make a good impression ... not Pam.
You'd think that a woman so concerned over her carpet would keep her house clean ... not Pam.
Now the final thing that ticks me off. Pam calls the Head of the Department of Corrections to report the potential abuse to her carpet - like any of us would have that privledge. Police have a lot more important things to do then prevent the potential abuse to carpet. We all are disgusted by people who call the police for trivial reasons and waste their time, now it is our turn to unelect one of them.
Not Pam in '06. Please Democrats spend some money publishing this story, any right thinking Republican will help un-elect her for this behavior. The WA Republican Party should kick her out over this behavior.

"She called and complained about that. I listened to her. That's the total extent of my contact with the senator."
So she did not use her influence, unlike Bill Clinton reckless use of his pardon powers before leaving office.
Stephen Roach has made big strides toward rehabilitating himself, according to Corrections officials and his mother. He was a model inmate and since his release, he has gotten a job and attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. None of his urinalyses have come back positive for illegal drugs, officials said.
Yeah it sounds to me like maybe he actually is trying to go straight.
Posted by: TrueSoldier on October 28, 2006 10:30 AMWho exactly is at the helm of the DOC? An out-of-state hire of this "governor", that is who.
Who are the executives quoted? New since his appointment, new to the DOC and/or this state and/or new to their jobs as well.
Just how much attention to business is being paid by gregoire's choice and his bungling appointees and cronies over in DOC?
How many others have been let go from prison early?
We should be thankful to Sen. Roach and her carpet issues.
Posted by: gus g. on October 28, 2006 05:00 PMI hope her son is putting his life back together. That was not the point of posting the article.
Clinton!! What the hell does this have to do with Clinton. Good Lord are you one of these conspiracy types who can connect anything with anything. If a Democrat complained about police walking on a carpet, they should be thrown out of office too.
But True Solider you need to get real if you don't see the problem with a lady Senator getting so upset that two DOC officers walk on her carpet that she calls the DOC chief. You have Blind Republican Disease (BRD).
Posted by: John McDonald on October 28, 2006 06:58 PMInformation about mismanagement at an agency will get the attention of a reporter.
Otherwise, DOC would have swept this under its carpet, don't you think?
The article stated they altered the electronic records, so it appears that was where they were heading.
It makes one wonder what else is under the carpet.
Posted by: gus on October 28, 2006 07:57 PMAltering electronic records for the purpose of concealment of bad behavior should get you fired. Assuming the article is 100% factual, this is bad on many levels.
Posted by: John McDonald on October 29, 2006 06:33 AM"Every administrator in the chain of command -- from Clarke to the field administrator who approved Stephen Roach's release plan -- professed ignorance of the fact that a classification error could reduce a prison term."
They admit they don't know their own classification system.
Corrections has submitted a large budget increase to let more get out early--the next huge social experiment that is going to cost the taxpayer plenty.
It might have served them well to learn how the system works now (based on the last huge social experiment) before they try to improve things.
Or perhaps they do know how the system works, and this is why well-connected get out early?
Clarke is a Gregoire appointee, so that explains much of this.
Posted by: gus g on October 30, 2006 05:54 AMThe comment you highlight is unsettling, it sounds like the staff are in serious need of traning. But your effort to pin it on Gregoire, a Democrat, is premature especially when the benefit is for a top Republican. However, Pam doesn't appear to care that much about her son, at least not as much as she does about her carpet. So I tend to believe her that she did nothing to get him out early.
