I got a call from the Darcy Burner for Congress call center (425-454-0519) again. I think that the last one was about a month ago.
Started with the normal pleasantries. The volunteer asked if I knew who Darcy Burner was, and who I was supporting in the upcoming election.
I told him that there was no way that I would send a person to Washington DC to represent my interests who doesn't take the time to vote in local elections. The volunteer proceeded to tell me that that was wrong. That Darcy lived out of the area that was affected by those elections so she couldn't vote in them. Laughingly I asked him if they were going to get an error statement out of King County Records and Elections excusing Darcy for missing those votes she shouldn't have voted in. I told him that Darcy's first excuse for not voting in a number of elections was she had a difficult pregnancy, now she is saying the elections department is wrong. We don't need people making excuses why the don't vote. She wasn't interested then and now she wants to be a US Representative and she has no valid reason for showing no interest in elections she missed in the past. Advice to people who want to run for office, have a record of voting before you ask for my vote!
Are you calling from a call center in Seattle? Darcy Burner doesn't have any supporters in her district. I told him that I don't want a Jim McDermott sycophant going to Congress, it is embarrassing enough to have McDermott from our state. The volunteer said that McDermott was a good congressman and George Bush is a liar not McDermott. I told him that McDermott has not paid his fines from his being sued for illegally releasing private phone conversations illegally recorded.
The volunteer then jumped on the Foley bandwagon, "we need to get people that prey on children out of Congress. I told him that Foley was no longer in Congress and the Republicans have a distinct difference in dealing with officials that abuse the trust the voters have put in them. They throw them out! Unlike Garry Studds who was repeatedly rewarded after having sex with an underage boy, and Barney Franks who had a prostitution ring run out of his residence. The Democrats have no claim to morality and for them to try to find some now is really kind of funny. What Foley did is repugnant, possibly illegal, but Nancy Pelosi appearing in San Francisco Gay Pride parades with the NAMBLA people is a lot more disgusting and gives me a lot more worry about the type of people hanging out with Democrats should they take the leadership of the House.
Darcy Burner dropped out of law school, she didn't vote in local elections, she lied about her Microsoft experience. This isn't someone that should go to Washington DC for a first time job experience. She would be better off trying to prove locally she has what it takes to represent the people of our district.
The caller kept saying he disagreed when I would bring up something objectionable about Darcy Burner. I told him that he could disagree all he wanted, but she was an embarrassing candidate fielded by the Democrats and he should go back to calling people out of his Seattle call center, but don't expect any of them to believe Darcy's spin and lies.
Posted by SCarnahan at October 07, 2006 11:22 PM | Email ThisYes, Burner lives in unincorporated King County, and yes, she missed an election on bed rest with her son- did you bother asking his birthday? I guess you would expect her to vote in spite of health risks to her unborn son, just as Mike McGavick talked shop while his wife was in labor.
All these allegations funded by the NRCC from across the country, who clearly have no clue where Darcy lives and which elections she was eligible to vote in. All this digging funded by out-of-district hacks while Reichert's campaign claims to be focused on the "issues."
Want a voting record? Let's look at Reichert's:
Voted against stem cell research before he voted for it.
Voted to drill in ANWR before he voted against it.
Issue after issue, Reichert is a flip-flopper. I don't know how a Republican wouldn't be ashamed to have him as a representative.
SLAM DUNK. Reichert is the one to vote for.

Their only platform is raise taxes and hate Bush. Not an intelligent word about terror.
Posted by: Gs on October 8, 2006 09:19 PMYou can claim that Burner wasn't eligible for a number of elections but the issue is that she changes her story when the facts that she has released previously don't fit. Your claim seems to be that the King County Records and Elections department can't be trusted to verify Darcy's votes, but they can be trusted to count our votes?
As far as Reichert's voting record at least he did vote, he was there doing the work that the voters sent him to do. I wasn't happy with all of his votes, but at least he isn't a quitter. Darcy Burner has dropped out of law school, she quit Microsoft after 3 years claiming it was a successful career. Darcy Burner would be a waste of a plane ticket and a bump on a seat in Congress taking up breathing space.
When she grows up and starts to finish things maybe she can go be an "extern" like she scheduled to do for Maria Cantwell before she quit that too.
The issue still comes down to an inexperienced person who inflates her resume and has a tendency to quit things to pursue other interests. We don't need a Burner bump in Congress. I am making sure that everyone I know hears about her shortcomings
Posted by: SCarnahan on October 8, 2006 11:18 PMSeems like you need an education in the facts of what you claim is Darcy Burner's "community involvement" and "leadership".
Darcy Burner is NOT the president of the Ames Lake Community Club.
She served as voluntary president from April 17, 2005 until April 23, 2006.
She filed to run for Congress on June 15, 2005.
Let me emphasize the word volunteer - This is not an elected position, and quite frankly, a position that has been occupied by one individual almost exclusively since 2000. The reason being, nobody in the community cares about being on the board of this pointless organization except this one guy, and some of his pals - Darcy included.
The "club" exists to collect voluntary dues of $30 per year from any plat residents who want a key to be able to access the lake, as our lake access is fenced off to prohibit outsiders from using the lake. The "club" distributes the keys to these paying people, and also rents a Porta-Potti for the beach during the summer.
This is really all the board members of this club are charged with.
Darcy moved here in the summer of 2002
She didn't volunteer to pay her dues to the club until 2004. She lives on the lake, and doesn't need a key to access the water.
Darcy only agreed to volunteer to be president in 2005, if the guy who has been "the board" since 2000, agreed to serve on the board that year as well.
This guy has been photographed carrying signs for Darcy in the parade of Redmond Derby Days.
She was forced to preside over one meeting during her tenure as president to address an ongoing problem in the community which previous boards ( read - this one guy ) had totally screwed-up.
She used the meeting to have pictures taken for her campaigning purposes.
She yelled down her neighbors who disagreed with her, and was condescending and rude to people who sought a solution, which she did not like.
She also NEVER lived up to her promise to the community to pursue a solution to the matter.
And after the meeting, she misled the majority of the community about what had transpired at the meeting, as only 54 people from the 390 households here bothered showing up at this meeting.
If Darcy Burner wanted to be involved and be a leader of substance at Ames Lake, maybe she should actually "run" for a board position on one of the two community organizations that actually have some responsibility to do something - Tanner Electric Co-op, or the Ames Lake Water Association.
Although, I disagree with you that she showed any "leadership" during her very short employment at Microsoft or is showing "leadership" in how her campaign is being run, I will concede those two points to you.
But as a resident of Ames Lake, I know she was not , and currently is not involved in this community, and is not "a leader" of any sort.
By the way, am I the only one that noticed that her husband ran unopposed for Democrat PCO?
I'm wondering, who's raising their three and a half old child, that she claims won't have a life if she doesn't go to D.C?
