Many registered voters this time of the year are being inundated with political flyers. If I don't get them thrown in the recycle bin as fast as I can, sometimes I actually read the trash.

I have noticed that the latest flyers from the state democratic party have decided to pair Maria Cantwell and Darcy Burner together. Now my true hope would be that the millstone of Burner will drag Cantwell right down into the mediocre mud that she belongs in. They really should get a different picture of Burner, get rid of the squinty snobbish picture with the Mao collar. At least Cantwell has someone that made sure her eyes were open in her portrait.

The first flyer "Maria Cantwell and Darcy Burner's Priorities" ... "Maria and Darcy Always Put Washington Families First" Not to put too fine a spin on it, but Darcy has done NOTHING for Washington State Families, well, except hers. The flyer claims that Darcy supported legislation that Cantwell sponsored. The likely way that Darcy supported the legislation would be her similar support for local elections, half hearted and ineffective -- oh she supported it, just no one knew it and if you question her, it was someone else's fault. The flyer is designed to show that Darcy and Maria will work together to affect our lives here in Washington. Well, Cantwell didn't do much for us and Burner actually appears that she would do less!

The second flyer, is about port security and how Cantwell and Burner will work together for greater national security beginning here at home. Again Burner is along for the ride, she offers no experience or insight into homeland security, except that she hates George Bush.

I am not sure if hanging an anchor around your neck is the best way to run an election, but perhaps Cantwell is so confident that the Ron Sims' election office will hand her the election that she wants to loan her coattails to the cipher Burner.
