Maria Cantwell: Treat or Trick
by JeffB., 10:31 PM, 3 Comments
Today is Halloween. Since Halloween falls on a weekday this year, it's mostly the province of dressing up in costumes at work, and trick or treating for children as night falls. So there I was with my family at Proctor Treats in Tacoma. If you are not familiar with Proctor Treats, it's in the Proctor Business District in Tacoma's North End. Each year, the police shut down the streets, and businesses hand out candy to a continual parade of little... [read more]

Nursing Students Ignored in Washington State Disaster Response Plans

Recent natural disasters have underscored the need for skilled volunteer workers. Democrat Harry Reid's new scandal
by mjcostello, 03:23 PM, 2 Comments
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/10/11/D8KMJ8I00.html Ok, I'm not holding my breath until the mainstream media grasps ahold of Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid's scandal and make's blanket allegations about the entire Democrat Party's corruption, but with this story and the Cantwell/Dotzauer story, and even the Rahm Emanuel non-denials of Democrats' knowledge of the Foley emails months ago, which political party is the one Democrats allege is the party of corruption?. Imagine a United State Senator and leader of the moral and righteous Democrats in... [read more]
Tax Cuts at Work
by TrueSoldier, 12:10 PM, 7 Comments
It has just come out that the defecit is lower than even the White House predicted. It has dropped below a trillion dollars to $247 Billion. This is great news as it shows the tax cuts are working. We can get this defecit reduced completly as long as we do two things. 1. Make sure the Democrats do not take control of Congress, because we all know that Nancy Peolosi and Harry Reid have vowed to eliminate the tax cuts.... [read more]

Cantwell's Recent Endorsement
by SCarnahan, 11:16 PM, 2 Comments
Maria Cantwell was prominently covered in today's news reports about her endorsement by the Washington Association of Fire Chiefs. She also claimed that she has the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs support. My question did she sleep with them to get this endorsement? Did her friend Ron get any money lobbying these groups to endorse her? We need someone who is more ethical in the Senate than Maria Cantwell. It is typical for a democrat to get support of... Darcy Burner "Truth Watch" this - Ames Lake Involvement
by ameslaker, 10:14 PM, 5 Comments
It seems it is time for an education in the facts of what Darcy Burner claims is "community involvement" and "leadership". As a resident of Ames Lake, and someone who has dealt with this woman, I have a perspective and insight that not many other posters to this blog have. I have had all my posts on Sound Politics spun by her handlers, or blind wackjob followers, and am sick of it. Therefore, I want to lay out the facts... [read more]
Deserters in Canada
by WallyWallace, 07:23 AM, 1 Comments
I watch primarily Canadian TV. Mostly because I live close to the border and am too cheap to get a satelite dish. So I caught a bit of a show about US deserters in Canada. Although they tried the sad sack angle on the story, it was also obvious that many deserters are not quiet. Many are anti-US activists speaking at rallies and working against the US. I've included the Canadian article link as well as a CBS link. Should... [read more]
The Anti-Reichert Burner Buddies
by SCarnahan, 12:00 AM, 1 Comments
The letters to the editor brigade is going full steam against Rep. Reichert. In Saturday's King County Journal two letters (Letter 1, Letter 2 ) to the editor that came off the same boiler plate were put next to each other. I wonder how many of these letters were delivered to the paper, I find it rather funny to see the talking points put right next to each other. It shows that an organized effort is being made to attack... [read more]

Charge: Charity Funds Diverted To Air America
by TrueSoldier, 11:37 AM, 0 Comments
Finally some accountability is coming from the scandal last year in which two non-profit execs diverted $1.2 million dollars, meant for Boys and Girls Club, to Air America. http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2006/10/gloria-wise-executives-indicted-air.html... [read more]
Democrats Website uses photoshopped picture of Soldier
by TrueSoldier, 08:46 AM, 5 Comments
Check this out. It appears that the DNC is using a photoshopped picture of a Canadian Soldier on it's webpage about Veteran's and their failies who they claim they support. http://michellemalkin.com/archives/006073.htm As a former soldier and know a disabled vet this really ticks me off, but I am far from surprised. I plan on sending this story to every vet and service member I know so they can see how the D party really cares about them. I urge every... [read more]

Darcy Burner's Call Centers working today
by SCarnahan, 11:22 PM, 13 Comments
I got a call from the Darcy Burner for Congress call center (425-454-0519) again. I think that the last one was about a month ago. Started with the normal pleasantries. The volunteer asked if I knew who Darcy Burner was, and who I was supporting in the upcoming election. I told him that there was no way that I would send a person to Washington DC to represent my interests who doesn't take the time to vote in local elections.... [read more]
Letters to the Editor-Communist Support for Democrats
by pagar, 08:59 AM, 1 Comments
When I posted my last entry, someone suggested that I put the topic in a letter to the editor. This is not letters to the editor- it's emails to the editor. The scary part is:of well over 100 emails, approximately half think the Communist party is not a factor in American Political life I had thought the scary part of the America's leftist was centered on the coasts, places like Seattle and San Francisco. But I guess they are every... [read more]

World Can't Wait - Drive out the Bush Regime Protest
by WallyWallace, 06:52 AM, 2 Comments
Just so you have a little info for cooler talk today. World Can't Wait is a project of C. Clark Kissinger whose anti-US behavior goes back to the '60's. This is not born out of the Iraq war and hatred of President Bush. You can visit his site at http://www.dissident.info/ and read some of his work at the Revolutionary Communist http://www.revcom.us/ This protest is born out of the minds of people don't want to wait for the will of the... Article in Log Trucker Magazine October 2006 issue, page 2, "From the Stump" column written by publisher Michael P. Take the Lead
by JanetSuppes, 10:23 PM, 0 Comments
Tonight I attended one of the public meetings being held by the WEA, PTA and League of Education Voters (http://www.taketheleadwashington.org/) to talk about Gregoire's education review. As one would expect, the focus of the meeting was class size, increased funding, and a redefinition of basic education that the state is constitutionally required to provide. The slide show and "questionaire" that was presented at the beginning was completely biased in that direction. The group sessions were geared toward the same conclusions.... [read more]
File this under "I told you so!"
by jcmount, 07:02 AM, 1 Comments
Back when Seattle proposed the pricey, automated public toilets some of us said it was a waste of money. That no one would use them, they would become a haven for druggies, hookers, and other types of criminal activity. We warned that the maintenance and cleaning costs would be higher than projected. I told you so! "High-tech public toilets going to waste, city told fancy facilities are used for drugs, prostitution." Okay, it not a huge part of the budget,... [read more]

It is time for a Right to Work Initiative in Washington State
by thedukeof, 02:23 PM, 3 Comments
After this fall's election, we need to organize a Right to Work initiative in Washington State. Our legislature will not touch it (they wouldn't even touch it when Republicans controlled) because they fear that attacking Unions is as bad as attacking Social Security - the third rail of politics - touch it and you die. So once again, it is left up to the citizenry to rise to the challenge. I believe that Sound Politics is just the vehicle to... [read more]

I was wrong about Hastert
by ERNurse, 10:24 PM, 3 Comments
Well, it appears that I was three steps behind the news regarding House Speaker Dennis Hastert's presumed (read: alleged) role in the Foley scandal. I got some bad gauge, and I should have known better than to act so hastily on it. No excuses there, folks. Just an apology. I have been a passionate advocate for the return of ethics to the halls of Congress. My anger toward Hastert has smoldered since his stupidity last May (the defense of a... [read more]

Why Should Hastert Resign?
by guitarplayr, 11:26 PM, 16 Comments
The WaPo has an op ed posted this morning demanding Speaker Hasterts resignation. Sister Toldjah asks: Should he? I will take it a step farther and challenge the premise on its foundation. I see nothing the Speaker has done or has not done to justify this, unless it is just for the partisan advantage of the Democrats. Why? Because at this point and according to the information at hand, the Speaker only knew about the emails, not the Instant messages. The emails... [read more]
