As a preface, I must declare that I am a Reagan Republican, I am the recipient of a 2004 NRCC Ronald Reagan Republican Gold Medal for my support of the Republican Party during that election year, and that means that I am probably more big- R Republican than most "republicans" in this state. Thus are established my credentials on this issue. (So to all you Democrats out there, don't delude yourselves that I now a Democrat. I am not on your side, I loathe the Democrats' platform, and you will never find a convert in me. So stay the hell off my porch unless you want to speak to Mssrs. Smith and Wesson.)
That said, here goes: I am one angry big-R Republican.
I got a big flyer in the mail today from the Washington State Republican Party. The front cover reads, "THE DEMOCRATS HOPE YOU DON"T HAVE TIME TO VOTE."
I thought to myself, "...And this is news because...?"
Page two declares that "You can't stop the Democrats' liberal agenda unless you vote."
I then thought to myself, "Well, the WA GOP is a couple of steps behind the dance here. Our votes already mean diddly squat in this state, and the weenies that pass for Republicans in this state are easily as much to blame for that as Democrats."
The flyer then raised the point that Democrats want to raise taxes and increase spending- which is disingenuous of the current GOP leadership to point out. Last I looked, the "electable" Republicans have been enjoying their own little shopping spree and they squealed like pigs with dismay when we lowly taxpayers demonstrated the unmitigated gall to hold them accountable.
The flyer then raised the point that Democrats want to give illegal immigrants Social Security benefits. Then again, so did many of our valiant Republi-weenie torch-bearers. Oh, and let us not forget that these are the same "electable" Republicans who wanted to give illegal immigrants amnesty- and would have done so had not the conservative base threatened their immediate and permanent unemployment as soon as we got wind of it. (Funny, they seem to have forgotten about that little kerfuffle.)
The GOP finally warns the reader of this waste of postage that the Dems want to let felons vote. Well, stop the friggin' presses! How the hell do you think Democrats have been winning elections around here in the first place, Dumbo? But I digress.
Anyway, once I read past the fear-mongering, disingenuous horsedookie, I found the real point of the GOP's missive. And let me tell you, the irony is truly and exquisitely painful. The Washington State Republican Party wants me to defeat the corruption of the Democrats by voting by mail.
Read that again. I had to read it a few times to convince myself that what I was reading was, in fact, what I was reading.
The leadership of the Washington State Republican Party has just declared, for all and sundry to see, its own hopeless stupidity. Have they not been reading the news lately? Voting by mail has turned our elections into a breeding ground for voter fraud and made elections in Democrat-controlled metropolitan areas a virtual gimmie for liberal Democrats- especially in King County, where Ron "the Banker" Sims has set up his personal little corner of socialist pig heaven.
And the leadership of the Washington State Republican Party wants me to perpetuate the very practice that has made this state's elections a complete sloppy abortion. The leadership of the Washington State Republican Party wants me to help them more firmly entrench a system that is responsible for robbing thousands of legal state citizens of that most cherished commodity in a free society, their vote. The leadership of the Washington State Republican Party expects me to trust that my vote will be appropriately handled and counted in Ron Sims Country, even after the repeated demonstrations by Sims and Logan that they are the last SOBs I would trust with anything, especially my vote.
Let the reader be reminded that I held the leadership of the Washington State Republican Party in fairly low esteem before this latest travesty polluted my mailbox. Now, I am totally convinced that the state GOP leadership has got to be the most slack-jawed, mouth-breathing, spineless, hopelessly triple-O stupid (as in, STOOO-PID ) people to have slipped out from under the fence.
If any moral courage existed among the leaders of the Washington State Republican Party, this pamphlet would never have been printed. Instead, the party leaders would be encouraging voters to make the effort to get out to ballot drop-off sites and watch them record their votes. They would be encouraging voters to demand fair and clean elections in this craphole of a county and not shut up or sit down until it was realized. But instead, the leadership of the Washington State Republican Party chooses to tacitly admit their collusion. The GOP would rather trust the fate of their candidates to a corrupt system- and be defeated every time on the major positions, legally or not- than to stand up for one of the founding principles of their party: freedom from disenfranchisement. The Washington State Republican Party has officially turned into the party of the Jellyfish for the sake of electability.
As a twist of the knife in the back of their constituency, the footnote to the WS GOP's declaration of surrender repeated the pungent irony: "Your vote DOES make a difference. Sign up for absentee ballot today."
Washingtonians, here is YOUR Republican Party. You can have it.
Posted by ERNurse at September 22, 2006 06:16 PM | Email This Great column, However do you know what else the
state party has done? Diane Tebelius has moved
over 300.000 dollars to there federal account.
It would appear she has decided that the state
legislative races aren't winnable and is trying
to help McGavick instead.
In doing this it she has also put the State party
in debt to the tune of almost 250.000 dollars.
I guess the only question remaining is will
she charm her way into being reelected or
will Mark Hulst be able to save a sinking ship.
Soon enough will all know the answers.
Thanks, As far as Susan Hutchison is concerned
I don't know if she will take on Patty Murray
in 2010. If she does there is know doubt in my
mind she would win.A lot of people continue to ask
if I think Susan should run.
Well if you were to have asked me this six or
seven months ago I would have said yes. Now
the State gop doesn't deserve Susan. After what
they tried to do her in conjunction with the
McGavick campaign.Let them sink in there own
quick sand. The state party have blown a golden
opportunity to defeat Cantwell.Had they bothered
to do a background check on McGavick maybe they
wouldn't have forced someone on us with the
baggage he has.
The only way I can see Susan running is if
Mark Hulst is the State chairman. Otherwise
I can't see a way it would happen. Diane Tebelius
burned Susan more than once. Trust is huge
thing to Susan. She trusts Mark that's all I'm
going to say about it.
It certainly looks like the WSRP is turning into a bag of dust. We need to shake things up a bit and introduce some solid talent, or conservatism in Wsahington State will go down with the Tebelius Titanic.
Posted by: ERNurse on September 23, 2006 08:00 AMCome on, guys. The moonbats have no substance, they have no platform, and they have no plan. They are toothless tigers on every one of the important issues. Why the hell is the WSRP so afraid of them? If the WSRP would emerge from the Clinton Dark Age, enough people would take them seriously enough to elect their candidates.

I might also add that some of you may remember
that Mrs Bush was here not to long ago to raise
money for McGavick and I believe Dave Reichert.
Well McGavick spoke to the crowd about civility.
After he finished speaking Diane Tebelius got
up in front of the crowd and just ripped the Democrats
to shreds. I mean really harsh.
The audience which was comprised mostly of
big donors to State Gop sat silent in disbelief
of what Diane said.In fact I'm told you could
have heard a pin drop. It was that bad for Diane.
Not a good move for the state Gop when your
trying get out of debt.
Diane T. seems like a lightweight, similar to Chris Vance. Furthermore, the strategy of ignoring state legislative candidates is stupid - they would have had a chance to capture one of the houses if the WSRP had run more aggressive and effective campaigns- it is fast approaching too late now. At the Federal level, Reichert should win - I can't be as confident about McGavick.
Posted by: KS on September 24, 2006 06:45 PMDo you intend to show up to improve the Party, or just moan from the blog side lines?
I filed for GOP PCO, waiting for results Oct 4.
On the horsesass radio show (KIRO), guest Phil Spackman said he had filed for GOP PCO.
ERNurse, will we enjoy your presence among the PCO's?
[ and whatever happened to all the Craswellians, did they all leave the State? ]

You'll have to scroll down a little to see it. But when you get there, you'll know what I mean.
So good luck on your PCO bid, bucko.
Posted by: ERNurse on September 25, 2006 07:41 PM At the risk of starting another avalanche of
a Susan Hutchison haters.I will answer your
questions.Look I have known Susan now for over
a year. I can say to you without any reservations
that Susan would be a great senator.Because
you really don't know her it would be hard for
me explain just how good she is.
Susan's grasp of the issues I can confidently
say is better than most. The first timeI I met her
she bowled me over with her understanding of the
issues and her solutions.I'm not going to go
into all that because she's not running.
Now I will ask you what exactly is McGavick's
historical evidence that he has the ability to
get elected? The fact that he worked for Slade means he
can get elected?Just because he was Slade's chief
of staff doesn't mean he is anymore qualified
than Susan.
I don't know anyone that's able to keep a
job for 25 years at KIRO if there not very
good at it. If Susan had decided to run I
know the outlook of the republican party in
this state would be a lot more positive
than it is now.People would have been energized
to vote and the polls that you see would
be the exact opposite of where they are now.
Susan would have won and won by a landslide.
The State Gop was just stupid to see what was
right in front them. Now they will have to live
with what they did.
