Darcy Burner's Campaign Calls

I just got a call from a live human being calling for Darcy Burner's campaign. She was a volunteer so I was nice to her.

She asked if I was aware of Darcy Burner running against Dave Reichart. I told her yes I was. She asked if I knew who I was going to vote for, I told her that yes I did. After a pause she asked who I was going to vote for. I told her that my vote would be going to Dave Reichart. She kind of asked why. So I told her my reasons.

1. I didn't like the fact that Darcy Burner inflated her resume. I told her that it was great that Ms. Burner had graduated from Harvard, however I thought that claiming a successful career at Microsoft after only 3 years there was a stretch at best. She quit law school without graduating she claims to run for office. The embellishment of her role at Microsoft was offensive, I want someone that is more truthful in the representing what they have done.

2. One of her recent campaign ads had a picture of her brother. Most campaign brochures have a picture of the candidate and their family. A picture of her, her husband and child would be standard political brochure fare, instead Ms. Burner has a picture of her brother in a formal military portrait. I told the person that if her brother were running for office that might be appropriate, but she is the one running for office. I found the brochure deceptive in how it was presented. I also told the caller that I didn't know if Burner's brother would even vote for her, he isn't endorsing her in the brochure.

3. Darcy Burner is a neophyte in politics. Her first foray into politics should probably be school board, city council or even something in Olympia. But sending someone with no experience in government or elected office to Washington D.C. was a disservice to Washington state. In reading comments regarding her involvement in her home owners association did not give me any confidence in her ability to get work done.

4. I told her that Dave Reichart had a distinguished career in law enforcement and as a freshman congressman sponsored and passed legislation on upgrading first responders equipment. Contrast his success with Darcy Burner's lack of accomplishments put the benefit firmly on his side going into this election.

5. I mentioned that it was actually embarrassing for the Democrats to have put this neophyte into the race. I find it hard to believe that they didn't have someone more capable of running for office against Reichart.

It was a nice conversation, the volunteer thanked me for the conversation and said she hoped that I would give Darcy Burner a bit more consideration before the election. I thanked her and I would be keeping track of what I heard and read.

My guess I will be on their "No call list" soon enough.

1. Not to mention that when she was interviewed by John Carlson she as much suggested that she'll raise taxes on the people who live in her district. Fuh-get about it.

Burner=higher taxes

2. For that matter when she was on with Carlson she admitted that the D's had no plan on how to deal with terrorism.

3. After Reichart's successful hunt and capture of the green river killer, one of the worst terriorists of this area, the decission is easy.

The attempt to put yet another liberal in office who has a party who is not in the least bit interested in protecting this country against terriorists, is nothing short of stupidity!

The only choice in this race is Reichart!

4. It must have been Darcy Burner spam day. My sister had an older couple show up at her house in Pierce County introducing Ms. Burner's candidacy.

She refused to accept the flyer they were trying to hand out and she told them that she knew enough about Darcy Burner to know she isn't a competent candidate for Congress. :)

She told them that padded resumes and no political experience outside of high school and a neighborhood association was not someone to send to Washington.

When my sister said she couldn't support Darcy Burner they said, "Oh, you must not know any veterans." To which she replied "What does it matter that her father or brother served, she didn't. Don't tell me I don't know about veterans, my father-in-law served in WWII."

The woman finally said that we need change, the people that are in Congress just have to go, we need more women in Congress. At that point my sister wanted to know what gender had to do with good leadership and representation. Just because Darcy Burner is a woman is not a good reason to vote for her.

The couple told my sister that she was, "Entitled to her opinion." My sister told them, "Have a good day." The couple was pretty ruffled when they left, apparently the older woman was a bit steamed because the Burner sell didn't go well.

The Burner doorbellers are apparently going with lists, they said hello to my sister by name when she answered the door. They weren't neighbors that she recognized at all. Personalized marketing of their inferior candidate doesn't make the sell any better.

6. Worth repeating:

BURNER = HIGHER TAXES

Posted by: Michele on September 10, 2006 03:45 PM
7. And ALL I can say about that is:

BURNER = HIGHER TAXES

8. People who were actually listening to Darcy on the Carlson Show know that she supports lowering taxes. Repeat: Lowering Taxes.

Reichert has voted to raise taxes over and over again in his 19 months in office.

The decision is clear. Please vote for Darcy Burner if you want lower taxes or at least write in Candidate "Reichart." Ha!

9. Sorry Charlie is a Democrat who doesn't even live in Darcys district (like most of her supporters). He is wrong about Burners postion on TAXES. She is and has always been entirely unqualified to be in Congress. Her views are closer to Capital Hill then Novelty Hill and the funny thing is she probably doesn't even know where Novelty Hill is.

10. I'm not sure she knows where Capital Hill is, but I do think we should send her to Capitol Hill. Smokie, capitalizing taxes doesn't change the fact that Burner wants to lower them for working families!

11. And seeing as how Burner lives near Carnation, I would hope she would be familiar with Novelty Hill.

12. Oh Ben means like the "Targeted Tax Cuts" for the Middle class during the Clinton Years that never materialized. I still remember that speech where he said "I could give you a tax cut, but you couldn't do as much with as the Federal Government can."

Most of Darcy's supporters are from Captial Hill and since she hasn't ever weighed in on any of the issues conerning Novelty Hill, I doubt she could identify it. Issues like CAO, Sex Offender housing, Traffic Concurrency for Trilogy and Northridge. She never been to any of the public meetings I have attended and never spoken to those issues. I guess shes to concerned about national issues to care about her own neighborhood.

Ben we all knows she lives on Ames lake, we also know she is not involved in the Schools, local charities, or volunteering. Apparently her concept of service involves using Congress as a starting position. Sorry, no thanks.
