I've pasted a copy of a letter that I sent to our local station KGMI and also in various forms to the council, the governor etc... I could use some help getting it out to the public maybe a few emails to the Bellingham City Council.
We have a problem with a very liberal city council that seems poised to pass a resolution against our country. Most people who hear about it on the news think it is a simple one line please bring the troops home resolution. It is more. The resolution is easily seen at Whatcom Peace and Justice Center
The Bellingham City Council is poised to approve a get out of Iraq resolution. I do not wish to slight those who have suffered personal loses. But I think that more than a few everyday people in Bellingham would be horrified to know that their council is approving an anti-US resolution that did not originate as a ground swell within our community, but rather is the project of national and international organizations devoted to communism. I gave the same information to the Herald and the city council a few days ago and haven't heard nor seen anything.
This is a synopsis of the connections.
Cities for Progress has toolkits for proposing this same resolution to city councils. Kits include how to start the process, very familiar looking sample resolutions, sample letters to the editors, how to involve media and other groups, techniques for getting resolution in front of the council and how to "plan actions to target the member" when they are not in favor of the resolution.
Institute for Policy Studies is the parent group of Cities for Progress. Institute for Policy Studies is also affiliated with the Transnational Institute http://www.tni.org/ that is based in Europe. They were both created and are funded by the Samuel Rubin Foundation.
The Samuel Rubin Foundation's is a multi-million dollar foundation dedicated to the "pursuit of peace and justice and the search for an equitable reallocation of the world's resources." i.e. communism. Samuel Rubin was a well known communist. They fund organizations that promote communism.
I would suggest you compare the "toolkit" to the proposed resolution and recent actions by its supporters and the council. It is enlightening.
I personally support our President's decisions as Commander in Chief of the US Military. I do not support any "Troops Home Now" resolution, especially this one. I don't think any city council should involve themselves in national foreign policy. I heard that is why Grant Deger was against the earlier proposed resolution on Iraq.
My point is that the council was targeted with an external agenda, not a ground swell within Bellingham. I think if they and the public had this information before the recent public comment session then things might look different.
