Seattlelites Hang on to Your Wallets

Seattle is looking to dip farther into your wallets with a new tax package.

This package features: a 34% increase in property taxes, $25 dollar a head worker tax, and 10% commercial parking "surcharge."

They claim it is for 20 years, we all know how once a revenue stream is tapped getting government weaned off that source is near to impossible. There is no sunset clause in the package, so let's be honest; call it permanent. Only have vague "infrastructure" and transportation plans for the money, no project specifics (maybe Nickels needs a new Denali).

But hey! On that affordable middle class family home valued at $400,000 it only comes to a Mocha a week ($150 a year).

Times like this I am glad I don't live in Seattle, but then again Shoreline will have to keep up.

So much for family friendly and affordable Seattle. The Seattle elites are declaring the rabble need no longer apply to live among them.

My only question is how much longer is the Population of Seattle going to put up with business as usual. It is obvious the City Council learned nothing from the Nonorail, but are the citizens up to teaching them in November?

1. Since the population of Seattle is about 80% liberal they'll probably put up with business as usual forever. Interesting that this tax is introduced at the same time Nickels is proposing to increase Seattle's population 60% by the year 2040.

2. Which begs the question what level of taxation will break even a liberal?

3. Or wake them up.

4. Why do they beat around the bush so much? Why not just pass a law that:
1. anyone that works in Seattle must live in Seattle
2. anyone that lives in Seattle must work in Seattle
3. anyone that lives in Seattle must use public transportation
4. anyone that lives in Seattle must be a registered Democrat

Wouldn't this be better than the slow death?

5. Southern,

Missed one;

5. Vistors must obtain visas and pay fees for using Seattle resources.

6. Missed another;

6: All Seattle-ites are allowed to vote as many times as they wish regardless of residency or citizenship.
