John Carlson in his King County Journal column: "The other side of the Sonics sale could be good news"

OK, someone's gotta say it, at least on this side of the Continental Divide. The sale of the Seattle Sonics and Storm is probably a good thing.
It's good because the NBA needs a cold, crisp reminder that its economic model is slowly but inexorably crumbling. Just 11 short years ago the newly minted KeyArena was being touted as one of the best places to play basketball in America. Now we're being told that it's economically obsolete. How did that happen so quickly? The owners group never quite explained why, and more important, it never assured us that it wouldn't happen again in another 10 years.
The sale is also good if it wakes up team owners to the weariness of the taxpaying public with ever-expanding demands for more public money. Well's dry, fellas.
