A couple of weeks ago some Arab rights groups spokesman was whining about how Hollywood always showed Arabs as bad guys. Naturally nothing could be further from the truth. 24 was used as an example. The last time middle eastern folks showed up on 24 they ended up being falsely and unfairly suspected of being bad guys. ...to say the least. A 19-year-old University of Oklahoma freshman was just elected mayor of Muskogee, a town of nearly 40,000 people in Oklahoma. Here's the AP article:

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- A 19-year-old freshman at the University of Oklahoma was elected mayor Tuesday of Muskogee, a city of 38,000 in the northeastern part of the state.

With all precincts reporting, John Tyler Hammons won with 70 percent of the vote over former Mayor Hershel Ray McBride, said Muskogee County Election Board Secretary Bill Bull.

I issued a challenge to the leftwingers in an open thread over at HA to submit proof that Obama will work with both republicans and democrats, as he promises in his campaign speeches. No one was able to submit any proof of this at HA.

North Carolina Community Colleges Will No Longer Admit Illegal ImmigrantsTuesday, May 13, 2008

RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina's community colleges will no longer admit illegal immigrants, returning to more restrictive policy on the advice of the state Attorney General's Office.

Last year, the system said it would enroll illegal immigrants who are 18 years old and high school graduates at all of its 58 campuses. The policy provoked heavy criticism, especially from the leading candidates for governor.

The system later asked North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper for guidance on whether the admissions policy was legal under federal law. Last week, Cooper's office suggested the system drop the admissions policy.

On Tuesday, the community colleges said it would follow the advice from Cooper's office.

Neal Pattison, the Herald's Executive Editor, trying to put a happy face on economic uncertainty for the Herald and the rumors afoot that layoffs for reporters and staffers are just around the corner, announced on the Monday's front page that the Herald was dicing up its business section by dropping stock market reporting and consolidating all of the food, family, entertainment and trends reporting into a new reduced size section called "Good Life".
