Gubernatorial and Attorney General debates

I haven't had time to watch yesterday's debates but read the coverage in the Seattle Times (Gov.), Seattle Times (AG) and Washington State Wire (Gov.) and heard clips on the radio. [The full video is available on TVW].

I was favorably impressed with what I heard from both Reagan Dunn and Rob McKenna.

Please share your own impressions in the comments.

NB. In other gubernatorial news, Rob McKenna announced today that he was endorsed by the Public School Employees' union. Duly noted.

1. Another reason to dispise McKenna? He's a huge fan of tribal gaming WITHOUT revenue sharing AND this idiot supports the Cowlitz Megacasino.

So: other states like Connecticut utilize revenue sharing as a way to relieve the burden on the taxpayers and to regroup SOME of the costs that tribes impose on the taxpayers of those states.

One tribe, who coincidentally is involved in trying to screw us here, the Mohegans, pays the state of Connecticut $400 million per year.

This simple idiot doesn't want any of that kind of money.

Now, Inslee doesn't either, but the tribes own him, so that's not surprising. But for McKenna to take the position that revenue sharing is bad and that he SUPPORTS the Cowlitz Megacasino scam?

Well, that explains why the little worm refused to join the Clark County lawsuit against the Cowlitz/Mohegan/Paskenta/Barnett scam.

Go to minute 55 or so for the lowdown.

2. And, BTW? Dunn's election year conversion to gay-marriage fan makes him unfit for elective office.

Not necessarilly because he supports gay marriage, as moronic as THAT is... but because it's a cynical ploy... kind of a Cheryl Pflug sell out to get the position, a purely political decision that has nothing to do with his real position on the iossue as much as it's a calculated decision for votes.

I'd vote for a cocker spaniel first.

3. So are you going to vote for the Democrats who favor gay marriage and are more of the same? No cocker spaniels are running. The solution is vote for the lesser of two weevils or don't vote for those offices.

If you are that picky, you'll probably find a way to not want to vote for Romney.

4. Hinton,

You're every Democrat's favorite kind of Republican.

thanks Dude!

5. As long as Republicans are willing to vote for "the lesser of two weevils" we will have weevils on the ballot.

How about setting a standard and sticking to it. Draw a line in the sand- this far and no farther!

6. Well, why you nice folks are fighting, I am wondering if I will end up voting for Mr. McKenna.

His stand on the higher education s a lot better than Mr. Inslee's.

You can read my summary here.

7. So, I'm the dems favorite kind of Republican?

Seriously?

I should blind myself to this dillwad's desire to screw the community where *I* live (and HE doesn't) and vote for that clown anyway?

I should ignore it when he refers to Scott Walker "terrorizing" unions in Wisconsin and his refusal to try and bring those slime to heel?

I should just "turn the other cheek" when he lies, calling collective bargaining a "right?"

I should just forget about it when he opposes initiatives like the tolling effort, 1125, that if it had been successful, would have save 56,000 commuters $1300 a year... each... as they're forced to pay for a bridge replacement and light rail we don't want, don't need and can't afford?

And, I should just blow off his lies for failing to intervene in the Clark County tribal suit that he opposes since he wants those slime to build their megacasino in my backyard?

On the contrary: MCKENNA is the "Republican" RINO that democrats love... not me. His election will put my county in the hurt locker just as bad as Inslee... for decades... and why vote for a fake democrat when we can get the real thing?

8. #7 eloquently sums it up:

Why vote for a fake Democrat when we can get the real thing and continue the downward slide of the State of WA, a California wannabe/groupie.

Reagan Dunn for gay marriage.. Wow-pandering at it's absolute worst.

McKenna sympathetic to public employee unions.
On the wrong side of history, there, big boy.

9. Sorry, limpwristers, but I wholeheartedly agree with Hinton, Hank and David. Until the Washington State Republican Party grows a set, their candidates for public office will (and should) always end up riding in the back seat on election day.

Queer marriage and union pandering indeed.

10. McKenna is the most conservative candidate with a chance to win. Instead of bitching about whatever it is about him you didn't like, you should have found and supported another candidate more to your liking instead of blaming everything on the WSRP. Armchair Republicans who just complain about why the nominated candidate isn't perfect enough for them are what ensures liberals rule this state for decades.

11. This is starting to sound like the Ron Paul-ulans, who think it's somehow noble to vote for their losing guy, in an effort to make a point, while losing the election, at which point noone cares what point it was they were trying to make.

IF we act like those fools, then Inslee will win. It's simpler for me...Mckenna's less damaging to Washington State.

The change we need here will be slow, but a step in the right direction is better than another step in the wrong direction.

12. A gentleman named Stephen Pidgeon is running for Attorney General. Pidgeon is a real live conservative, not a wishy washy unprincipled RINO.

Reagan Dunn should at this point gracefully bow out after inserting his foot in his, well, mouth on gay marriage. Shame on you, Dunn....

13. By the way, no Paulbot here.

But I seriously doubt that replacing tweedle dumb with tweedle dumber will, in fact, damage this state any less.

Again, these two seem determined to drive us off the same cliff... the only thing different is the pace they want to use to do it.

if this guy is going to be a Republican, then he needs to act like one. If not, then he can finish ditching the GOP instead of doing the half-hearted effort he's engaged in so far.

Out-democrating the democrats is nothing to run on. And, it seems to me, that these two have many more similarities than they do differences.

Posted by: Hinton on June 14, 2012 06:33 PM
14. hinton: If you are suggesting that a real, true, pure conservative is electable in Washington State and CAN CARRY King County, then I'm politely going to ask you to stop drinking your nebulizer water...

ANY republican is better than another democrat, no matter how bad he is... and at the very least, Mckenna understands that he has to appeal to the Seattle audience in order to win this thing.

that's just the way it is...If you can't bring yourself to support him, then your vote for the other guy, who's much worse.

15. I have never seen such financial disasters as Gregoire and Owebamma. If you want more of this debt and deficit bunch, vote for Insley, he helped rack up the 5 trillion in new debt over the past 5 years. It is rediculous!

16. I am interested in learning about the other GOP candidates.

17. Again two politicas using the office of the AG to pave the way to the Governor's office. One candidate trading on his mother's and Gorton's name and and the other with hardly any legal experience at all. The debate was interesting. both of them pointing out each others lack of experiencein the lagal field. Look at Stephen Pigeon. Puts both of these candiadtes in the class of kindergardeners. Pigeon has the right experience and the conservative positions that will make a difference for our state. Look him up at Pigeon for AG and see if I am right.
