Romney outraised Obama here too

Yesterday's big campaign news was that Romney outraised Obama in May nationally, $77 million to $60 million.

Someone in the know also mentioned at the Romney fundraiser the other evening that in recent local fundraisers Romney has outraised Obama here too. (I'm not certain if they meant "here" being Seattle area only, or the northwest overall).

Either way, this would be a leading indicator that we might have a more competitive Presidential contest here in WA than we've had in a long time.

1. But how can this be in a deep blue state influenced heavily by the utopian enclave of Seattle ? You don't think that maybe... nah, pigs would be flying before that happens.

2. I think nominating someone who is not seen as a far-right ideologue is going to help in this election. I have a left-wing neighbor who is very disappointed in Obama and thought that Mitt might be an acceptable alternative. If this plays out in a relatively small part of the WA population, we could flip our state from blue to red, and increase the chance of seeing Rob McKenna as governor!

MItt may not have been my first choice (I preferred Rick Perry) but he's starting to look like the best chance to unseat the sitting President. I can definitely live with that. We just need to try to elect as many conservatives to congress as we can.
